the greatest combination was peter arnett, eddie adams, people like that.ilm would get developed in saigon and it may take a day or two to get to europe or the dnc somewhere. and then to get stuff out quickly, there were two times a day you could radio a photo out of saigon. three or four or five pictures. you had a day or two lag. a lot of times, the film would just the underdog and sent to tokyo. but that's just the way it was. i didn't make a phone call out of vietnam for a year. >> the reason i ask, you had to figure out what was worthwhile. bob schieffer, who i assume he works hard on his commentaries but you might spend a day or two. [laughter] so pat worked very hard, but during that time when you're writing it, it's breaking news, breaking news. somebody heard something and you have to get it on the news immediately. but it may be wrong. and nobody is taking allowed to do it. but photographs may influence a great deal. they may be two days later. where we better off then? david: i think so. i mean the fact is you will not see them until you see them
