kolo 8 news now washington correspondent peter zampa spoke with colorado senator cory gardner, about the importance of his legislation. senator cory gardner's bill to impose further sanctions against north korea is headed to the president's desk. gardner says recent actions from pyongyang require a response from the u.s., not patience. a satellite launch and multiple nuclear tests apparently have gardner and the rest of congress ready to strengthen sanctions against pyongyang. the senator says north korea has failed to learn its lesson from decades of global criticism. with hints of a legitimate nuclear program, gardner says now is the time to pay attention to north korea. the bill, among other things, applies sanctions to any person that has knowingly imported goods from north korea and specifically identifies people engaged in severe human rights abuses in the country. the bill also calls for sanctioning cybersecurity in north korea because of suspected cyber terrorism efforts from pyongyang. gardner calls north korean supreme leader 'forgotten maniac', who can no longer go unnotic

kolo 8 news now's washington correspondent peter zampa is talking with the colorado lawmakers. senators cory gardner and michael bennet say they are frustrated with how slowly the environmental protection agency has moved in the recovery process since the gold king mine spill. gardner says six months later and the colorado delegation is still waiting for answers. senator cory gardner: "we've found their responses to be lacking. i don't know that we've received but maybe one response to acknowledge that they haven't responded to many other letters that we have sent." senator bennet says the local communities and businesses are still waiting on restitution from the epa. "they have yet to come through to honor those claims, so we got to keep working on that." the senators have introduced good samaritan legislation that would allow outsider environmental groups to help clean up abandoned mines. they think this bill could help prevent similar disasters from happening in the future. senator cory gardner: "i feel better now that legislatively we are starting to work toward a long term sorution, but
