peter defazio, the ranking member on the transportation and infrastructure committee, which successfully made a six-year funding bill paid thank you for your time. rep. defazio: thank you. ms. swain: let me turn to both of you. how successful is this bill going to be? it has to have reconciliation, and then the president has to approve. what does it stand? ms. caygle: well, likely the two bills are not so far away and policy. when they get the conference, if they get the congress -- conference, they won't have that much to work out. you have people on both sides who have said we don't want to vote on this issue in 2016. they have voted on so many short-term extensions since 2009, they'll -- they don't want to make their members to get -- go through it. what happened, the summit has a bunch of offsets -- senate has a bunch of offsets and they could adopt them for their bill. but both sides want to get something done their share. -- done this year. if you bring up the gas tax, it is very thorny. but the offsets the senate came up with, i think both sides are in a let's swallow this. ms. sw
