: the biggest thing we have had to deal with is the loss of christopher evan welch, who played peter gregory. he was kind of the, cornerstone of season one. he was the guy richard ended up going with, financing-wise. that was a huge, huge hole to fill. and writing-wise, a challenge to figure out what the hell we're going to do with him. emily: he was terrific and i understand he is being replaced by a woman? mike: not necessarily replaced. his firm, she becomes the lead partner, this new character that was not in season one. played by suzanne cryer. but he is -- it is not necessarily one for one. we did not really think of it as you can replace him with anybody. but we had to write around that. this is -- second season is the story about what happens to a company. them going to the next level. emily: everybody wants to know, is there a good dick joke in this series? i mean, that is -- mike: there is at least one. i think it is a good one. emily: is it as dick joke-worthy as the one in season one? alec: we love all of our babies. emily: he is called peter gregory. he invested in an island. think the character gives a compelling portrayal of someone who is passionate about the future, determined to make things happen. people are driven, slightly crazy. i think it is a positive show. emily: can you really grow meat in a lab? peter: yes, i think the problem is if somebody will actually eat it. emily: what you think about failure? peter: this idea that failure is ok is one of the more destructive memes in the valley. i think that failure is always a problem. when a company fails it is a tragedy. it is often damaging for the people who go through it. emily: what is your biggest failure? peter: there are some things that work better than others. but, on the whole, i have always been resilient. i always have come back. emily: i know you have thought a lot about the extension of human life. and you think that you may live until 120. peter: i certainly hope to, yes. emily: what are you doing? are you taking immortality pills? some super exercise regiment. peter: i think on the n
