peter johnson, jr. peter, you're going to explain what's happening. >> you might be surprised. let's look at the cuts. these are the major cuts that we're talking about under obamacare. 415 billion to hospitals. medicare advantage, 156 billion. $56 billion to low income patient hospitals. what's the net effect of this? 2011 study that i found to be absolutely disturbing. it says that the cuts could increase patient death rates in america. that's right. patient death rates based upon the balanced budget act in the '90s and what that did to medicare. a study by professors called the long-term impact of medicare, pain reduction on patient outcomes. it says that less money being spent on staffing means fewer nurses per bed, and an increase in mortality in heart attack patients over the time. not immediately. we'll see the 90-day rate of mortality. it goes up. the larger the cut to a hospital, the more people die as a result of medicare cuts, according to the professors. they have say cuts kill. so they're sa

we're putting that to peter johnson, jr. who joins us. >> the cuts are in the law.l. it's proven to say less resources equal more deaths. so we had a big talk of death panel when is obamacare was being put into effect. this is the real death panel. people will die. there is a study that shows as a result of the balanced budget act back in the '90s, that medicare reductions caused a rise in deaths in people who suffered a heart attack. in hospitals. it didn't happen immediately burks took place over time because of staffing reductions. but in my view, the quality of healthcare will suffer and it will spill over from the medicare population into the general population. >> steve: sure. >> so what you will see -- let's look at at the mortality number. they show that people, in fact, will die as a result of heart attacks. who is going to pay the price of these medicare cuts? these medicare cuts are going to be paid for by everyone. >> steve: right. >> there is something called the spillover effect. we see the spillover effect in the largest cuts, more people died in hosp

peter johnson, jr. >> good morning.of years and said what is the mitt romney plan? we've seen all these negative commercials and a lot of kind of scurilus talk. nothing changes under the plan for current seniors for those nearing retirement. also, medicare is reformed in the premium support system, whereby all americans on medicare would get a fixed amount of money, if it was done today, it would be about $15,000. they would have an opportunity to purchase a policy, or, eric, go and stay on medicare as it exists now. traditional fee for service medicare would be offered under the romney plan. now, lower income seniors would receive more, what's called premium support, than wealthier americans. but there would be the same opportunities to receive the same care. finally, the point is that competition among plans and people's interest in assuring costs are kept down would reduce costs. now, the really interesting thing about it is that the plan that mitt romney is talking about is a half democratic plan. senator ron widen,
