the letter specifically cited peter navarro the former white house trade adviser.he justice department filed suit against navarro earlier this year to try to force him to turn over emails they say he wrongfully kept from his personal account related to work on the covid-19 response. the update to congress comes as doj continues its investigation into the classified documents former president donald trump took to his mar-a-lago resort which began after the archives discovered that classified material earlier this year. maloney also asked the archives last month about the status of trump's records and urged the agency to seek a certification from the former president that he had turned over all government documents in his possession. the archives, however, declined to address that issue in its letter, referring all questions about trump's documents back to the justice department in light of the ongoing investigation. jeremy herb, cnn, new york. >>> brazilian president bolsonaro is predicting he will easily win today. recent polls are not so favorable to bolsonaro who

judge nichols understands that in sentencing bannon he's setting an example for peter navarro and potentially for president trump and others who might be in contempt of congress if they were to receive subpoenas. and so in many ways the sentence that bannon gets is a lot more than about bannon. it is about bannon and everyone else as well. >> and on that note, president trump we know has just hired a new attorney, new counsel in light of this anticipated subpoena from congress. what do you make of this hire? i know that she has represented others that have been close to the president as well throughout the investigation, the january 6 investigation. >> well, it is interesting in that he seems to have finally figured out that the quality of his representation actually materially impacts his ability to respond to the legal troubles he's facing. the dylan law firm has a pretty good reputation and is likely to give him good advice. whether he takes it or not is a different question. but at least he's -- he seeps to have understood that he needs good lawyers. i hope they got their fee up front. >>
