to take on any leadership role in hester they've all the other parties have said they won't form a coalition with alternative for germany they've proved to be controversial from their start up and continue to be controversial as they move into a more mean straight mainstream role of having representation all state parliament their leadership on the results well they were elated. with the people's party the f.t. is now represented in every german region after the great success it has. but the big news here in germany under merkel is expected to announce that she will step down as the leader of the christian democratic party it's understood that she will continue on as chancellor but what type of chancellor that will be without the party leadership at the same position we're as chancellor when he did essentially what she's doing now for the last six months of his chancellorship he wasn't the chairman of the party she said you can't be one without the other essentially because if you are a chancellor without being head of the party you're essentially a well chancellor at the behest of that party and whoever is in charge of the party and that's where things could get interesting because there are two types of candidates that could potentially take over from angela merkel there are the center wrists which is very much the same tack which mrs merkel has kept the party on or put the party on and kept it there during her tenure and then there's also those more conservative voices those to the right of angular merkel c.d.u. party that say that her policies have taken them closer to that of the social democrats and that that's why they've hemorrhaged votes to alternative for germany that they want to get the real conservative voice back there now chief that i wouldn't be running again i wouldn't have seen as tenable to separate the two but since it's only a limited period of time that we will be doing this i think it may help us focus more on our government work to have a strong party chair a chancellor and head of the parliamentary group but only for temporary amount of time. madam chancellor you did you inform your see her phone in advance and it's not easy to do but we're seeing it across europe and beyond europe too in some cases but what you have in the in the middle as sort of big tent mainstream party we need to be when she reach more voters you need to be stronger as a mainstream party so we won't be able to keep the germany stable politically and then what that means for me is that we need to. get voters back from both sides from the far right and the green party and that's not easy but it means we have to think through our concepts and i believe that this is a real opportunity so that people can see. you've been
