eric: peter schweitzer is the author of "clinton cash." he was chairman of mrs.'s 2008 presidential campaign. and is one of the closested a advisers the clintons have. what does this mean and how serious is it? >> when you talk about an insider's insider in the clinton network you are talking about terry mcauliffe. the reporting is it's focused on these campaign contributions from a chinese national who apparently has permanent residence status in the united states, in wang. this investigation began in may at the same time the f.b.i. also began investigating the clinton foundation. if they are just investigating whether mr. wang was entitled to make these contributions, a year is a long time to investigate a simple question like that. my instincts tell me this is probably part of a broader probe looking into the clinton foundation and whether there were favorable actions taken for the benefit of people who donated to the clinton foundation or political campaigns that were part of the clinton orbit. eric: we are looking at the governor speak on a different issue.

peter schweitzer with me now. welcome, peter, we're glad you're here. you led an explosive investigation into the foundation. what was the biggest surprise to you in your research? >> the biggest surprise to me is when you follow the money, which of course is the oldest adage in politics you find while hillary clinton was secretary of state the clintons received huge sums of money through the clinton foundation and in the form of speaking fees to bill clinton from foreign entities that had matters sitting on her desk as secretary of state and after they received those fund, the people who sent that money received favorable action. the big question of course is, whether the sending of the money is exconnecting to the favorable action. clinton supporters say all a coincidence. i think it is probably something more than that. deirdre: so, peter, when you talk about these speaking fees, we have some stats. we'll pull them up on the screen so our viewers can follow. hillary clinton at the maximum made $350,000 for one speaking engagement at ebay but her rang

so, that connection, you've got this moving, the peter schweitzer movie at cannes film festival. >> basedote where he lays out this out. the fact is, if the money was paid to him as opposed to being paid to the foundation, that is -- that's constitutional crime because if it's given to him, she shares in it. and it is a violation of the constitution for a public official to take money from a foreign government. >> so, what are you expecting the results of this investigation around the clinton foundation to yield? i mean, do you think this impacts her campaign? >> i would think if the results of the investigation become known, it could very strongly impact your campaign. the only way they're going to become known is if charges are brought in connection with the foundation. that's wholly apart from the e-mails. >> i thought it was really, i don't know, comical that "the washington post" said they're going to put 20 reporters on trump. and i don't see 20 reporters on the clinton foundation i just -- >> no. and obviously it shows you what their priorities are. >> let's move on to the obamacar
