peter torkelson who was born in my home state, great state of wisconsin, served in the minority and the majority as the republican from massachusetts. now that's almost a definition of a rhino, but the term wasn't really widely used at the time. when we were putting this panel together, robin reed asked us who do we want? well, we want the very best. it doesn't matter if they're d or r. we want people who can be introspective, tell us how the institution has changed and what it was like for them and what their relationship with you as administrators and librarians and educators, how that interaction might actually work. we are obviously the institutions of representation are changing at all times. the way we learn about them, the way our children learn about them will have you forever more they center. so i would like to introduce first and hear from nancy johnson and second i want you to hear from peter torkelson, two wonderful former members of congress. thank you. nancy.
