"the hill" notes that the new congress that will set to gavel in will be the most racially diverse in history. will still be overwhelmingly white and male, compared to the overall population, but there will be record numbers of hispanics, african-americans, asian-americans, and women of color serving in this 115th congress. the number of women in the senate and house overall will stay the same. there will be a total of 104 members or 19%. there is one less woman serving in the house this time around, dropping from 84 to 83. but there will be a record number of women in the senate, 21 female senators. the number of women of color overall is set to quadruple, "the hill" noting also that the hispanics will hit a new record, 38 members across both chamber
