so what can pet owners do right now to protect their pets from this? >> the unfortunate thing is that our current vaccine is not going to be 100% protective as far as we know. initially, we thought this was an eight strain of flu and now we think it's an h3n2 strain of flu that has been affecting thousands of animals in south korea and chinese -- and in china and so we think this is a recent introduction to the united states possibly back in january. not exactly sure where it came from. but the good news is that our vaccine, our influenza vaccine may impart enough immunity for these pets to be able to fight it off. it's sort of like us getting the flu vaccine. it may not cover all of the strains but better for us to have it because it encourages our immune system to build up against these viruses. so you know we're a very mobile society. and especially in this area, we have people coming in all over the place traveling with their pets. so the best thing that you can do is if you're planning to travel to chicago, number one leave your pets at home. if y
