if it was pg&e, we would take the call and have our staff pg&e into's on my system -- into pg&e's online system. however, it was difficult to know whether that request was serviced by pg&e. it would be a duplicate from our part, because we would have to enter it into the system and free internet for pg&e -- and re-enter it for pg&e. so, it was very cumbersome. it would take longer, especially if it had been routed incorrectly to pg&e were puc. we decided to work with pg&e said they could access our customer relationship management system, so we could then customize an intake form working with pg&e and puc, so we could then route streetlight requests directly to a puc queue or a pg&e queue. there are still issues with that. though we do have a gis layer for puc, if we do not see it on the puc said, we assume a it isa pg&e request. what is nice about thecrm system, -- about the crm system, puc can route it pg&e. we do based our determinations a lot of times on whether it is a certain street light pole. some wooden poles are at treasure island, which is really puc. some of the improvements

perhaps pg&e does. supervisor wiener: since the puc is paying for the maintenance of streetlight pg&e that -- streetlights that pg&e owns, has the puc attempted to set maintenance standards? >> we have not attempted to set me and standards. it is our understanding that is the california public utility commission's responsibility. we have absolutely communicated and my streetlight staff communicates with the pg&e streetlights staff on a routine basis for the need for maintenance in the system and standard operational maintenance. supervisor wiener: there is a discrepancy in terms of the number of repaired and broken lights. it is not necessarily a significant difference in terms of the time it takes puc to repair its lights and pg&e. i wonder if you have had any effort to impose those meannes'' standards? >> we do. every three years, we have a rate case by the california public utilities commission. we are participants. there is a street lighting consortium of all california street like consumers, if you

there were 40,000 people that called pg and e about their gas. that means they call turned off their gas? did they need to do that? when do you have to? when there is a problem. how long did you think it takes pg and e to get out and turn it back on? 45,000 people. days weeks, may be a month. who has seen this in the streets. a lot of muck is in there is it's full of dirt and weeds you turn it to the right to tighten it and left to loosen it. your home work you have to look at your house, pop open the lid, look in there see what's going on in there it's not nice and clean like this. who has seen this around their house? everybody. each meter has a shut off. you want to find out where your gas meter is. you can keep track of your usage but you will know how to shut it off. here's the shut off. i have some tools up here, you can look at these. any hardware store has these. they fit on this and it allows you to turn off the gas. when we talk about the wheels it's these on top. if you have a broken pipe. they will spin like mad. when it's daylight, g

pg&e are working to repair the broken power poles and lines. a spark from the lines led to a three-alarm fire. a brief evacuation of lin is -- residents. kron 4's da lin is live. >> reporter: they are working to shut down 580 here in oakland. we will zoom in on the free way right now -- freeway right now. they are still working on work to shut down the freeway. you can see headlights and tail lights of cars in both directions. they should be closing it momentarily so pg&e can work to repair power lines. first of all, once the pg&e workers start they hope to have that done within 30 minutes. pg&e is waiting for chp officers to shut it down and then they will start their work. let's show you a map. you see that red dot there? that is where a power pole snapped in half. chp is shutting down 580 so workers to work from the location of the red dot across to the other side of the freeway and attach the two lines. all of that work will be done, so chp is closing 580 and they hope to do that soon. that hasn't happened yet and they are planning to close
