fire investigators determined broken jumper cable on a pg and e tower ignited the blaze. so i think that it's a real win for sonoma county today, the sonoma county d a. and the company announced a settlement with the criminal complaint against pg and e being dropped. we did what we could, which is we got oversight. we have consequences if they don't follow through. and we also giving back to the community so that we can be safer and improve our well being. pg and e today also settled with five other northern california counties in connection with last year's dixie fire. no criminal charges will be filed in that fire, which consumed nearly one million acres in butte, lassen, plumas, shasta and to hema counties. investigators determined the dixie fire started when a tree fell into a p genie distribution line. pg and e spokesperson says the company decided to settle these cases to make things right with local communities. we really think that this was the right resolution for everybody. we're really looking forward to strengthening our partnerships with the counties and the

pg and e s bottom line. utility announced its first quarter earnings and they are up a lot of baker takes a look now at the big rate increases and just how much money pg and e is raking in. in the wake of two large rate increases on natural gas and electricity imposed during the first quarter. pg and e is january through march, profits sharply increased to $475 million, almost quadruple its profits for the same quarter a year ago. wall street is popping champagne corks. in fact, the genie shares jumped about 3.5% on thursday alone, thanks to the report on profits, profits being on the back of record price increases. pg and e ceo patty poppy told wall street this today we can make our system safe with the right investment and keep customer bills affordable. on top of the 14% increase already imposed this year. another rate increase will be considered in april. more major increases are in the works for 2023 into 2026 $40 a month increase. for 2023 by 2026 that will have grown to nearly $60 a month of increase
