this is managed by the california pg&e and pg&e is requesting a 36.6 percent there for the charges in san francisco. that's as i mention that's pending all the hearings and the process is complete we're waiting for a decision from the california puc to know whether our funding will be increasing and those funds are to allow pg&e to recover their capital expenses. we're charged by pg&e a fee for distributing the electricity. all the lolts whether we own or they own them is power so we're able to minimize our costs of the supply component by delivering our own kilowatt hours to those lights. we pay pg&e about $343,000 every year for the distribution component. and we also pay pg&e for transmission to the distribution level. when you look at that on an annual basis in 2013 we'll pay almost 2 million to pg&e for precision maintenance for those street lights that pg&e own in san francisco. if the rate increase goes forward it will be 2.6 million and that's another one of those connoting draws for the limited draw us we have. so when we talk about you how much the puc pays for on street lig

now, pg&e is out here on the scene.hey've been digging into the ground to try and figure out where that leak is because once they find the leak, then they can turn off the gas, and that is what's going to put out the fire. oakland fire is really just standing here sort of as a precaution to make sure that nothing goes wrong as pg&e is looking for that leak underground. there were three people -- or three homes, i should say, that were evacuated. several other nearby homes are telling people there to stay in place. they've allowed members of the media as well as some of the homeowners who were evacuated to get rather los to the scene, so there doesn't seem to be a great deal of concern for anything exploding here. pg&e does not have an estimate for us yet as to when they may be able to turn off the gas and let people back inside, but they are working hard to hand that. we'll keep you updated all day right here on nbc bay area. live in oakland, chase cain. >> thank you very much, chase. >>> questions still remain after a

there were 40,000 people that called pg and e about their gas. that means they call turned off their gas? did they need to do that? when do you have to? when there is a problem. how long did you think it takes pg and e to get out and turn it back on? 45,000 people. days weeks, may be a month. who has seen this in the streets. a lot of muck is in there is it's full of dirt and weeds you turn it to the right to tighten it and left to loosen it. your home work you have to look at your house, pop open the lid, look in there see what's going on in there it's not nice and clean like this. who has seen this around their house? everybody. each meter has a shut off. you want to find out where your gas meter is. you can keep track of your usage but you will know how to shut it off. here's the shut off. i have some tools up here, you can look at these. any hardware store has these. they fit on this and it allows you to turn off the gas. when we talk about the wheels it's these on top. if you have a broken pipe. they will spin like mad. when it's daylight, g
