this is managed by the california pg&e and pg&e is requesting a 36.6 percent there for the charges in san francisco. that's as i mention that's pending all the hearings and the process is complete we're waiting for a decision from the california puc to know whether our funding will be increasing and those funds are to allow pg&e to recover their capital expenses. we're charged by pg&e a fee for distributing the electricity. all the lolts whether we own or they own them is power so we're able to minimize our costs of the supply component by delivering our own kilowatt hours to those lights. we pay pg&e about $343,000 every year for the distribution component. and we also pay pg&e for transmission to the distribution level. when you look at that on an annual basis in 2013 we'll pay almost 2 million to pg&e for precision maintenance for those street lights that pg&e own in san francisco. if the rate increase goes forward it will be 2.6 million and that's another one of those connoting draws for the limited draw us we have. so when we talk about you how much the puc pays for on street lig

most of our activities recently on the cca front for in puc proceedings where pg and e's green tariff option has continued to move forward. developing a green rate the statute requires a commission decision by july so we are expecting that the commission will need to issue at least a proposed decision in the april time frame in order to meet that statute requirement at this point we would expect pg and e's projected green tariff rate to be initially offered at 12.3 cents a kill owatt hour and that rate is forecast to increase to 9.4 cents a kilowatt hour in january so pg and e's basic service energy component of basic service rates is increasing come january to 9.4 cents and their current proposal before the cpuc under the green tariff option would be to offer the one hundred percent green power at 12.3 cents a kilowatt hour again that's just a proposal. we're expecting more activity probably around april. turn then to energy efficiency issues at the cpuc as it relates to -- >> can i ask a question? >> absolutely. >> so since pg and e is in control of the power throughout the city owe

now, pg&e is out here on the scene.hey've been digging into the ground to try and figure out where that leak is because once they find the leak, then they can turn off the gas, and that is what's going to put out the fire. oakland fire is really just standing here sort of as a precaution to make sure that nothing goes wrong as pg&e is looking for that leak underground. there were three people -- or three homes, i should say, that were evacuated. several other nearby homes are telling people there to stay in place. they've allowed members of the media as well as some of the homeowners who were evacuated to get rather los to the scene, so there doesn't seem to be a great deal of concern for anything exploding here. pg&e does not have an estimate for us yet as to when they may be able to turn off the gas and let people back inside, but they are working hard to hand that. we'll keep you updated all day right here on nbc bay area. live in oakland, chase cain. >> thank you very much, chase. >>> questions still remain after a

pg&e could be hit with a massive fine over failing to disclose faulty pipeline records in san carlos. some say that situation could have led to another disaster like the san bruno pipeline explosion in 2010. our reporter is in san francisco with the latest on that story. >> it is the last meeting of the year for the california public utilities commission and underway right new in the ought term right here. the commissioners need to decide how exactly to punish pg&e and they arerring a fine more than $14 manage against the utility. the utility charged with not -- closing a faulty pipeline back in october of 2012 and then quietly changing the records a year later. the mayor of san bruno talked with me best meeting was underway and they are angry with pg&e and hoping the commission levels the stiffest penalty possible. the mayor because what happens today could indicate how they will rule on fines regarding his city, of course, they are talking about the deadly pipeline explosion. >> we talking about a chronic, repeated pattern of pg&e not being trustworthy when it comes to pipeline insp
