phil, let me start with you. how concerned are you about the rise of anti-semitic incidents in this country? >> i think we should be concerned for a few reasons. if you look at the divisiveness in europe, this isn't just an isolated incident against a jewish target or military target, you're talking about social debates about immigration here. immigration in france, that's part of the presidential debate. so this is a deeper issue than just one lone gunman. the second thing we have to remember, and i have to go back to sitting at the threat table at the fbi is what the chief of nypd talked about and that is copy caters. we saw this in the anthrax case ten years ago. copy catters for years got the inspiration from the attempts in 2001 so there's the underlying social issues here about foreign populations, about anti-semitism and the prospect of copy catters. >> chad, what could be behind the rise of anti-semitism that we're seeing in the u.s.? >> well, i think in the u.s., as phil just noted, a number of motivatio

what are you seeing, phil? >> mandy, in the middle of the day there was a flurry of activity especially as there were reports coming out about potentially the united states releasing the strategic petroleum reserve, as we all know that is not going to be happening. but look at the spike in the airline index when that report first came out, it was a huge shot up. and frankly it's been holding ever since even though the white house is coming out saying we are not releasing the strategic petroleum reserve. all the airlines see a bit of a spike about an hour and a half ago. they have come off that a bit. but they are still up. here's the reason why, mandy. when you look at jet fuel over the last six months as it continues to move higher, the bottom line is that the expectation among investors is that at some point there will be a break in oil prices. and jet fuel prices will come down. as we all know, mandy, jet fuel is the number one expense for the airlines. if they can get a break there after spending $50 billio

and rod has asked me to offer something of an after ward to phil's presentation to tell you something about his history in the 1860s and put him in context of that generation of pioneers who served in the house shortly after. 143 years ago this february 27th, menard broke one of american history's color barriers. like so many moments, that moment was both triumphphal and sir co rounded. he was to be seated in the house and the galleries were crowded and the house gave him it's undivided attention. now, we might be content to relegate him to a curious historical footnote after all, there were earlier curious foot notes. in february of 1865, house chaplain william channing invited garnet to commemorate the house's approval of the 13th amendment to deliver a sermon in the house chamber and that was a unique moment because african-americans had been banned from the house chamber going back to the 1820s. but garnet wasn't speaking in the house while it was in session and he wasn't makeing hs case to be seated as a representative. >> his brief 15 minute speech on february 27th delivered fro

phil, i want to go to you first on this. and these numbers, i think, are somewhat staggering, if you look at politico reporting in illinois mitt romney outspending rick santorum 7-1. chicago, he's outspending santorum 21-1. i want to unpack the chicago numbers first because why spend that mump money in chicago? isn't that romney territory already or is this a sign of a campaign not letting anything go? >> that's a good question. the one thing to know about illinois is that 70% of the vote in the illinois primary comes from north of the interstate 80 that cuts the state in half. or the bulk of the vote comes from, it comes from that region. that's why you spend more money in television in that neck of the woods. there are all kinds of different parts of the state, some are more conservative, some more independent and moderate. spending that you're talking about from the perspective of advertising reflects tactical decision of the super pac and the romney campaign where they should be driving their message. >> folks on my left

phil. earlier this year i had a chance to sit down with the psychologist at his studios in los angeles. he says one of the reasons he launched his talk show 10 years ago was to end the sai lens that often surrounds domestic violence. >> there's a right way and wrong way to get out of a violent relationship. if you do it the wrong way you are really at risk. the highest risk you ever have for serious injury or death in a violent relationship are the weeks immediately after you leave that relationship. you don't watch the dr. phil show or some other dealing with this and become all empowered and get up in your abusers face. that's a good way to get killed. because there's an imbalance of power there. men are bigger, they are stronger, we're built different, our muscles are different. a big part of domestic violence is control, and when they feel the control slipping away, they panic. they get frustrated so they up the ante, and that's when they are likely to chase you down, find you, hurt you
