. >> fox news' phil keating is in apalachicola, florida, tonight. phil, the hurricane moved in this morning. you were right there, had 155- mile-an-hour winds. what was that like? >> reporter: hellacious, furious, just an absolute punishing matter of hours for the morning and the afternoon for all of the panhandle and much of espealin the big bend area of florida. mexico beach where the eye made landfall with 155- just 30 in apalachicola. so we were on the dirty side of the hurricane which means higher winds, higher rains and higher storm surge. we got it here. you can see some of the damage that's left behind the roadway here, water street appropriately named because it was under about this much of water. this many feet. three to five feet of water all day long. water has been receding though for the past several hours. the rain stopped a few hours ago and the winds are just breezy right now. but nothing -- i can't even describe how really fierce they were as the bands and the waves of the eye wall came nearby and then just blew through this place.

catherine herridge is standing by at the justice department, but we begin with phil keating in florida. phil? >> reporter: dana, in is the fbi division hq for miami in south florida. it is here where right now cesar sayoc is believed to be being questioned and processed inside the heavily gated and facility. this is where the white van he was seen driving and arrested outside of at an auto zone parking lot in plantation, florida, which is just up the road 10 or 15 miles. that has also been taken inside the federal facility here to be processed for reams of evidence inside and outside of that van. the aerials from plantation of the auto zone, you can really see the van. before they put the blue tarp on it, you can see it was just covered in political bumper stickers and ideological sayings. some of it written out that you could see and read while you drive around the town. clearly, this man was very passionate about what he believed and wanted everybody to know that and convey some impression on everybody and influence other drivers around him. lot of people do that, not many of them --

on the ground outside of that phil keating on the scene in south florida. two parts of the story now. we see the phase of the man suspected of carrying out the bomb scare is that the nation has experienced for days and we see the arrival of a man who we have arriving at fbi headquarters. >> that van remains behind me, highly secure gated complex of the fbi's miami division headquarters. just had about a dozen harley-davidson's escorting about five cars inside the gates there. the cops on bikes coming at a high rate of speed. lights and sirens going escorting these five cards. we don't know he was in that, but we have to assume that must be related to this case. his address has been listed as aventura which is just north of north miami beach just south of fort lauderdale. if this is the western side of pryor county miramar where the fbi headquarters is in just several miles from here his plantation and by the aerials of the news choppers as you can see, his white van being taken into custody where the suspect was apprehended. it appears the fbi knew who they

phil keating is live outside miami's fbi head quarters in miramar where investigators brought the suspect and that van also remains back there behind the gates in a secure garage. now being processed and believed to be just chocked full of evidence. we believe the suspect remains inside as well being thoroughly interrogated by fbi agents as well as attorneys and prosecutors with the u.s. attorney's office. the van loaded on a flatbed truck in the auto zone parking lot where federal agents took their opportunity to quickly jump out and arrest cesar sayoc while he was there to buy something. auto zone said they handed over the surveillance camera footage to the fbi. after a slow drive to the fbi facility, the federal convoy pulls in through the gates with fbi or atf agents standing on the front and the back of the truck to keep the blue tarp. all of it broadcast live on national television. we learned the 56-year-old was working at a papa johns in hollywood, florida. employees would not comment on him. they said they couldn't. had to talk to corporate. we talked to employees of neighboring

phil keating is on the scene. what does it looks like, phil? >> looks like a muddy mess right now.s is apalachicola. we were 30 miles east of the eye, the dirty side of the storm. so the winds, the rains and the storm surge here this morning and afternoon, many hours of it, was an onslaught, a pummelling. it was hellacious. the rain is gone. the system has moved up to georgia. the storm surge here was anywhere from 5 to 4 feet deep, make 6 feet deep. subsided since 4:00 p.m. dramatically and a few inches, maybe a foot further down the street deep. but it's leaving a lot of mud left. you can see the buildings behind me that were damaged. this dumpster was picked up by the storm surge after the hurricane went northbound and then the winds shifted, blew it over here, floating it into that building. probably destroying that building. so as soon as sunrise happens tomorrow, the curfew will be lifted for residents if they want to venture out. the sheriff's department in franklin county has held off so far giving the green light for people to get out there because search and rescued teams
