kcrg-tv9's phil reed went to their fundraiser where they got a big surprise. jerry james was shocked to see a replacement van waiting for him at pavillion park. "oh my gracious. it brought tears to my eyes. it was a godsend. it's overwhelming." the black grand caravan is wheelchair accessible, and has enough room for the jerry and their grandchildre n. "so that we can get me to medical appointments, jerry to medical appointments. and all the kids have appointments. they've been placed in our custody by dhs, and right now they're all getting therapy at various times. so every week, just about everyday we have some place to go" that means a lot of driving across eastern iowa. and they don't know how long the newly donated caravan will last with over 270 thousand miles so friends and families decided to lend a helping hand. "i know they're kind of tired of relying on everybody to change their schedules, so i thought a luncheon, and a bake sale and a silent auction would help them" but until that happens, the james family is happy to ride home with a set of wheels
