let's bring in phil robertson in bangkok he's the deputy director of human rights watch. the asia division thank you for your time so as we said there are people have disappeared forcibly disappeared hundreds of them since the beginning of this coup what is human rights watch found else well what we're finding is that people are being taken away at night often when the internet is shut off people are you know obviously seen being taken away but there's no real clarity on who is taking them and then relatives as they seek to find where their loved one has been taken can get no answers and there's no formal notification a lot of times what we're seeing is sort of pass the buck mentality where the relatives go to this police bureau and they say we don't have and maybe the other police bureau and oh no maybe the military is going to mean it's a it's a game of trying to shuffle the relatives around while giving no answers obviously it's an attempt to foster a climate of fear or do you think has happened or will happen to these people who've been taken well in communities incom

phil robertson — from human rights watch — gave us this update. lot of people. they have built barricades and parts of the town, and the military surrounded those barricades and the protesters, starting at 5am, and attacked them with machine guns, rocket propelled grenades and other heavy artillery. it was basically a massacre that took place over a couple of hours, but you know, many, many people were killed. i mean, the numbers are still a bit in flux. it may well be more than 50 people were killed. we're hoping, obviously, that there will be more pressure at the un security council. we want to see a resolution to having a global arms embargo that would be imposed by un security council resolution. that is really, i think, the key thing that needs to happen now. the special envoy�*s here now in thailand, she is in quarantine for about a week, but then she will be basically talking to the thais and others in the region about the situation. there is supposed to be a meeting, a special meeting on myanmar on the 20th of april where there will be a d
