but to phil rutter, to garrett haake, thanks for making time for us at the end of a long day. eugene robinson, your next guest standing by to talk to us. the politzer prize winning washington post columnist, someone you often see on our broadcast and we're proud of that around here. eugene, you worked overseas as a journalist and state side as a journalist and been in washington a good long time. where does this rank i guess on the darkness scale? where does this rank on days you have witnessed? >> well, this is really dark. this is really dark. certainly in terms of anything i've witnessed in washington, this is really, really dark. this kind of thing i saw when i was south americacorrespondent, we need to step back and look what happened today. the president of the united states over a period of days and weeks summoned this large, angry mob to washington on january 6th. be there. everybody come. he assembled them and went out and gave them a speech to rile them into a frenzy. sent them off marching toward the capitol telling them to be tough, be strong with the obj t objective of preventing
