philadelphia developed technologies to pump water from the river into the city. these technologies established engineering concepts that are still the basis for our water systems today. europeans flocked here. it was a destination point to see the new world technology. when charles dickens visited us in 1840, he was truly blown away by high water pressure on the fourth floor of the hotel he was staying in. nowhere in europe had he experienced that. this technology was doing something to support the life and the growth of the city. philadelphia, throughout the 19th century, was the major industrial city of the united states. all of these industries used water from this system. and it served as a prototype for many american cities, including pittsburgh and new york. man: new york city went to philadelphia and said, "you know, we're thinking of developing a hudson river water supply -- what do you suggest we do?" and they said, "we've had "a lot of problems on the schuylkill. it's the apartment of justice or a local cop saying that you jaywalked i talked about this in philadelphia yesterday with one of the civil affairs police and i asked him that exact question because he said they were getting along great feeling really good about the way things were going with the occupation in occupy philly and i looked at all these tents on city property and i knew that if they wanted to they could have arrested people who are clearly the tense because by technicalities there are laws being broken so the mayor i don't think he's talking necessarily in good faith because if he wants to he can arrest everybody there and throw him off if he wants to allow free speech that's a different story then if he wants to allow the constitution to work itself through that's something different and it's an excuse if you're going to say we want to give everybody their civil rights because there's plenty of room in those places and i want to talk to you because you have you're one of the few people that we've got on the show that's been to several different approach path i'll throw around

this is not far from philadelphia. i-95, a car on 95 left the highway and ended up on the turnpike road below it. two people in the crash died with 30 cars piling up. that was 3:00 in the morning here. that's like 15 hours or so go ago. take you to another area of inconsistency and inconvenience could be in palmer, massachusetts. this is an amtrak train that was heading from chicago to boston, 48 people on board. there was a rock slide caused by the snowstorm got in the way of the tracks and they had to shut down train down. they had power, food and free drink. so if you are going to do anything get caught on a train that has plenty of power people here in pennsylvania getting some power back. we talked to the people in this house here, i can see one light on in the house. those are the rosenblatts. they haven't had power for 36 hours. they are happy. the house is warming up. it was getting quite cold in there. 40,000 in the area without power. many are checking in to area hotels tonight to keep the kids warm because y
