my name is david anderson and i'm speaking on behalf of pam hemphill and philip gerrie for the commission on animal control and welfare. i served for 14 years as executive director of a nonprofit in san francisco followed by six years as v.p. of national conservation organization and i'm back working as conservation chair and on the board of directors of a major conservation group in san francisco. in those capacities, we rely on working with agencies and commissions in the city and we rely on those members having integrity, having open communication with us and having expertise. and pam and in philip, you have applicants with those characters. they're fair. they're hard working, they're dedicated. they have a history of great service to san francisco and to the community. we rely upon them and we trust them. you have difficult tasks facing you in terms of different animal issues in the city. tasks that you're going to have to rely on people with good dedication, people who are trusted and people who can communicate with those organizations around the city. and i urge you to recommend to

so we have philip gerrie. thank you, mr. gerrie. so if you could speak briefly about your background and your interest on serving on this commission? and thank you so much for your service already on this commission. >> thank you. good afternoon, supervisors. i frankly wasn't sure if i wanted to continue on this commission for another two years. as you can see, i have decided to apply again and i want to share with you the reasons why. first, first off, i have gained a wealth of experience in the last four years serving on the commission. to stop now would be zwroust throw away that experience, i couldn't do that. one way i have gained understanding on the issues is i have been commission secretary for over three years now for which i revisited and studied the discussion and arguments of every meeth when i have transcribed the minutes. in the past four years i met and have had good working relationships with people in diverse, and related groups, acc, spca, sierra club, et cetera. i have been interested in every issue that has been
