o.k., as i say, i've already covered it with a mixture of alizarin crimson and phthalo blue. all you're looking for when you do this is just a nice thin even coat. you don't want big gobs of paint on here, just enough to cover the canvas. as we've mentioned before, if you're going to paint for family or friends, this is one of the neatest ideas, because you can do this without your family or friends knowing that you've put color on here already, and this is a transparent color so it still looks black. and then, tell you what, we'll do it. but when you start adding other colors on there, son of a gun, it just comes alive like oh, just like magic happening. o.k., we'll clean the brush, beat it dry, then we're in business. i'm going to dip this brush right into a touch of the liquid white. now let's go right up in here, and you have to make a decision right off in this painting. where's our light source going to be? i think it's going to be slightly off center, right about here. so, i'm just going to start with little criss-cross strokes, and look how that comes alive. boy it ju

maybe in our world today, we'll just start right up in here with a little touch of that phthalo bluehere and there, just wherever you'd like to have it. there. just like, something a lot like that, we don't care. there. and if you want it to get darker and darker, you just apply less pressure and allow more of the black gesso to show through. that's all you have to do. it works so fantastic. there we are. i just want a little hint of blue up in this sky. maybe we'll do a, let's do a little winter scene today, what the heck, what the heck. it's the last one, maybe we'll do a little winter scene that's a little different, a lot of fun. all right. that's about all i'm going to put up there for blue. now we'll wash the brush, shake it off, and just beat the devil out of it. o.k. that worked so good, let's just keep using that old two inch brush. i'm going into a little bit of the titanium white, just plain old titanium white. i'm just going to tap the top corner right into a little bit of white paint. let's go back up in here, and just using that top corner, i'm just going to put in the

there we are, crimson and phthalo blue. little touch of that, and let's just, let's just put a little bit of that right in like so, still using the little criss-cross strokes. there. o.k., and we'll just fill the sky up. just fill it up. now you can use this lavender color against the yellow without it turning bright green, because if you mix lavender with yellow, it just makes a pleasant brown, and that's o.k., we can live with that. we can live with that. but if you was to use pure blue and you touched the yellow, as you know, we would have bright, bright green, and we don't want that in this particular painting. o.k. and we'll just wipe this down here. this is going to be a little winter

i'm going to start out today with a little bit of phthalo blue, small amount, just tap a little intohe 2" brush, and let's go right up here. we'll just use our little criss-cross strokes, just like so, and let's just dance in a happy little sky. just sort of let it wander around, have fun and play. there. now your color is continually mixing with the liquid white, and that way, it's very smooth. you get all these different values, you don't end up with just one dead color up here. there. just let it go. have fun with it, enjoy it. painting should make you happy. there. but see all this beautiful blending that you get? if you were on a dry canvas, you'd be in agony city now. now you can blend this til it's just as smooth as it can be. i want to leave some of these little spots in it, and that'll look - it looks almost like distant clouds without doing a thing. there we go. so when you're doing your painting, make a big decision. do you w these all out? do you want to leave some of them in? it's totally and completely up to you. there we are. see? and that easy, we have a happy little
