the snow is picking up in intensity. the next four hours or so they'll see snowfall rates in the sierra, especially above 6,000 feet in elevation, 2 to 3 inches per hour. the heaviest snow occurs late tomorrow into top night. let's talk about the bay area. we have a band of heavier rain moving farther east. the fact it's moving is part of why we aren't concerned about flooding on a widespread basis. localized flooding we always have to watch out for, some heavier downpours around fremont up towards livermore and back across the santa cruz mountains and off the coast, even a marine warning in effect for coastal parts of santa cruz county. there's another batch of showers moving into the north bay, but there are gaps in between these waves of mostly light to moderate rain. that remains the trend. the gaps in between combined with the fact of the heaviest downpours moving along will help us avoid widespread flooding. we have a wind advisory along the coast and higher elevations of the bay area from friday midday to 10:00 on

right now that wind advisory going into effect as we were seeing those winds picking up in san jose, it's mainly the coast and the hills. those elevations above 900 feet will have the highest winds that will be peaking around 5:00 this evening. so that's as more people are out and about, most likely on the roadways and you'll have to keep a tight grip on the steering wheel as those winds pick up and rush in from the south feeding into that storm system, that will give us nasty winds into the evening eventually calming down tomorrow morning with that wind advisory will be allowed to expire. as the heavier rain comes in and the chance of thunderstorms, there may be some minor flooding. watching out for that, about 1 to 2 feet of snow this weekend. snow is already coming down. you know what, just wait until later before you try to drive. the tire chains required, and conditions will be very dangerous. once this clears out, we're going to be seeing warmer temperatures coming in for a little while, and of course for next weekend, rain and cold temperatures will be back, so enjoy this stre
