so it concerned offspring at pier 80. osprey a protected under the federal law called the any congratulated treaty. it's - this law is enforced by the fish and wildlife serve. it protects a lot of birds their eggs and nests as well. for the seagulls we're concerned about the western gulls. in particular regards to bird nests conversations with bird life staff their guidance documents and also federal and state management plans consistently indicate that nests in the process have been constructed are not active nests. the n ta does not prevent - knocking down nests that are empty are not a threat. so this speaks to the heart of the pier 80 as i'll describe. if i saw the article you may recall or you may recall from last spring as well that we celebrated having a pair of osprey show up at our according terminal and nest on top of one of the according cranes. we allowed the osprey to raise their chicks. the end of september 2012 the port removed the nests. we did after consulting with the san francisco group and also a commu

if you know the history of this pier and along with the other piers. we had to kind of settle for warehouse of different companies or government agencies. they were the warehouses. and that's what president ho has been struggling with. how do we get our real estate on the port to be activated and bringing down people. and that's what our movement in the city has been all about with our public/private partnerships and the business relations. and of course giant the led it in the at&t waterfront, and it's been exciting to see that. and all the avenue electrified on that. and to see that on the waterfront. and to have have that complim t complimented. and it will be a huge part of pier 70. so this is all part of a master plan. i have to admit that was over a year-and-a-half ago that larry told me in confidence. and i couldn't say anything. may come down to the pier. but you can't jinx it, you can't say anything about it. and we were together in 2010 celebrating our world series. and already whispering about the possibility. and will to see it happen is fa

and pier 48 which is also used for the parking in the storage of election of equipment and the small sliver of the parking on the edge of the boulevard. >> as you know, as an enterprise agency within the city, the port has adopted a list of capitol needs which it must fund in the portfolio and it has many historic piers and disrepair and environmental needs and so on. the port has valuable water front real estate and much of it under utilized and realized ten years ago that it could use these assets to fund the needs. as part of the port's straggy, to revitalize the water front and to generate much-needed financial resource to address these capitol needs, the port identified several key development sites within its portfolio, many of them sea, wall lots. 337 is one of these sites. and in the mid 2000s, around 2007 prior to commencing any sort of developer as phil outlined earlier, the port conducted a very extensive process and engaged the stake holders and the community to arrive at several land use objectives for the site. this process with hundreds of meetings with the community m

and the northeast plaza you've haired about and the 27 and 29 pier and pier 70 port. this graphic really shows that the next time of the open space are continuance along the waterfront. we're very grateful to the voters. so the purpose of this item today is to get your first look at this allocation of the proposal. specifically we're looking for a 29 tip. and $600,000 to the creek improvements for a total of 18.2 million. and this is over the two years. the slate of bond projects that we will accomplish through this go bond is approximately over 5 years beginning earlier this year and concluding with the last park close out at 2017. there's quite a bit of information in the park project. the total cost is 17 million and 14 million arrested spent for the planning. the design is scheduled for completion in 2014. for the park in this pier could include the machine shop court yard. we're looking for the piers that benefit the community and we estimate points completion in january 2017. $600,000 for this sale of creek improvements. the project we estimate will be applied i

at the end of the pier? >> at the end of the pier. they have obstructed views. they look out to the east. one of the rooms to the north it's dramatic views. to the north and south they have no views. >> office space? >> we like to classify pier 9 as class b property. however, their space is somewhat unique in pier 9 constructed 20 years ago. it doesn't meet a d.a. codes and energy efficiency codes. it's more of a compartmentalized office where the modern offices like pier 1 are open plans. that's what everybody wants. they don't want the compartmentalized office. it's a hybrid space. they have a gym, they have kitchens, they have accommodations for sleeping. so it's really a mixed, they do vessel -- they maintain the vessels. one thing that you should know is when we say that it is a class b property, you do have to drive down about 500 feet of pier and then your entrance is a cyclone fence. so arguably there are components that are not up to a class b property. >> but i think they have mixed space, right? they share rent and we are not charging them for the sam

pier 48 as you can see is much like all the other piers you are familiar with. it has a great large and long apron for cargo to be shipped and stored and out into distribution. the difference of pier 48 than others you know. on this side is a second transit shed with another apron. in the middle is a long divide. that's where the rail cars and the trucks came in to pick up the cargo. across the way is seawall lot 337. that was filled in by the santa fe railway. in order to create a new headquarters for their train movement. that would go down the peninsula and out into the greater california area. and seawall 337 known as lot "a" and pier 48 have been designed to go together since their inception. as you know the port authority has worked with the stakeholders and our partners led by the san francisco giants. to create a new excitement and energy and one that is san francisco's world-wide commerce with residential and with recreation. there is no other port in the world that is doing it at quite the level that san francisco is doing it. and we have such a great

piers? >> kyung lah, this is clearly a very disturbing development, particularly i would imagine for the people of south korea. what has been the reaction to this there? >> reporter: well, it's disturbing because we're talking about delivery of these weapons, piers, and that's really been what's at issue here for south koreans. we know that the north koreans have had nuclear weapons, about four to eight of them already in their possession, but it's how do you deliver it to south korea, how do you deliver it to other countries in the region, and so what this is is it sort of underscores that they're a little further on that delivery. that's what's concerning here. but what's also concerning is that south koreans look at the long term game. they've lived with this threat for some time. they believe that north korea wouldn't actually send out these weapons because it would be in effect regime suicide. the long term gain for south koreans is they also want nuclear weapons. there's a growing cons
