as you know pier 29 is one of the 14 piers that is listed on the embarcadaro historic district. this award recognizes the challenges the port faced as a result of the 4 alarm fire which happened june 209tion of 2012. and our stewardship that we demonstrated and completing a faithful reconstruction of the pier in accordance with the secretary of the interior standards for the treatment of historic properties and getting done within a record 10-month period. the pier 29 project is one of 20 projects throughout california that will be receiving the award on september 27th. and we are sending wendy proctor, our port architect, who project managed the reconstruction and mark, our port historic preservation staff to accept the award. and if any of you would like to go, we would love to have you. so, just want to take a moment to thank all of the folks that were involved in this monumental task. as i said, led by wendy proctor with tinly young [speaker not understood], [speaker not understood], dave, larry, tim, monica, and mark, many others on the port staff. mark hanson from the city

this is a very, very long pier when you compare it to other piers. so, there's an opportunity here that we think doesn't exist in a number of other projects that are maybe not quite of the same scale. we're providing office that would stretch for the latter, it's called three quarters of the pier. and we see that happening on first and second floor. we're looking at building mezzanines. so, the first floor is a mixed use component, public access, the docks, the retail at the front, and then office at the rear of the project. we think this is a really unique approach to putting the second floor in. if you've been in the building, it has a very tall clear story in the middle of the building. so, rather than pulling the mezzanines out to the glass line, we're helping to pull them into the middle of the building and build atriums between those mezzanines so we take advantage of the tallest part. and we don't push out against the glass line. we're going to enhance the transparency of the exterior of the building by not putting a floor right up against the

29 where the temporary facilities in the pier 27 area. now they are extending the hot tub well over the side of the ship and i will show you the problem that this creates in the next couple of slides. and the canopy that connects to the cruise ship and on the right-hand side after you walk through the tub and this connects into the terminal building and this structure has ramps that are sized in length to attain the ada slopes and are required for many conditions that a ship and elevations and title elevations. and just one of these ramps? >> they connect together. and so they form the blue boxes that represent the tubes and then on the right-hand side, the ship and then you can see, in the magenta color and in the light, hanging over the side of the ship and the problem that this creates is the ship is not far enough off of the wharf phase. with the waste or the hot tubs or all of the above. so the solution to that is to move the fender system which are the... you can see it on the picture here by the at the transition of the ship and th

we have the port have a priority use of the 5500 square feet at the end of pier -- of the pier. and for the public event space. in all, the gross rents paid to the port would be $240 million over the 66 years with the net present value of $31 million. roughly that translates to about $155 a square foot, which is the high end of what's being paid. i think michael [speaker not understood], but it's a high [speaker not understood]. plus you'll get 15% of the sales transfer. very generous offer. hopefully it will knock him out -- >> almost [speaker not understood]. even if we fixed pier 45. luckily, when the facility opened in 1995, the receiving and processes and companies flocked back to fisherman's wharf and the sheds were unleashed to capacity almost immediately. today they remain at capacity with over 100,000 square feet of modern fish handling distribution space to 20 fish processors and receivers. it is today northern california's leading seafood center. the next infrastructure project was the construction of the $7 million hyde street harbor. commissioner brandon, you were on the commission when that was approved and ratified. it provides berthing for the larger more modern fishing vessels. it opened in 2001 and has 62 berths for -- with modern amenities for the larger transient boats that chase seasonal catches up and down the west coast. the progress continued. just this last year, a $2 million harbor office joint operation center was completed at the foot of hyde street harbor. an old 50 year old aluminum building was transformed and provides amenities for loc

pier 27 brandon street warf, 23.5 and pier 50 le sub structure repairs, all four projects have satisfied local hire are on track to meet their local hire requirements and conditional waivers for off site credit and apprenticeship have been utilized. the pipeline to meet these needs for construction workers are through the apprenticeship program was founed and it was partnered with city college of san francisco, trade apprenticeship program. and its eligible for college credit and financial aid participating in this program. the minimal requirement are high school diploma, ged, valid driver's license and the ability to pass a drug test and those are industry requirements and those aren't the ones we impose. their curriculum is a general training and hands on training and construction safing, and blueprint labor and life skills, cpr first aid, scaffolded stairway confined spaces and fall lift and traffic control. and then our apprentice ship partners are the carpenters, cement maceers, sheet metal workers and we support the training program founded in 2009. it's an 18 week curriculum, non

pier 40 at harbor and pier 1 and a half next to our office. shortly after we put it out, it was approved. tide line ink who was been successfully operating for the last year and another company called san francisco water taxi out of pier 39 who will commence operation in the next ten days just having purchased two boats that are docked at pier 54. tide line has been the first company to really dip their toe into the water and they've had very good success. they've been -- they've been making significant progress in establishing a viable water taxi service for san francisco in an unproven market. they have taken nearly 3,000 passengers in and around san francisco providing services 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and they've had 700 calls into our facility. it's a great service. if you live in marine you can take the boat and end i in pier 1 and a half and have dinner at our restaurants and go back to marine or vice versa, if you live in the city, you can go over to sams or jacqueline square and have dinner. tide line along those lines has negoti
