cinthia pimentel here for kari. it looks like it's everywhere. >> yeah, it's going to be another soggy day around the bay area. good morning. i want to make sure you're prepared before you head out the door. we are looking at this storm already gaining a lot of energy. if you look, it's kind of hard to see, but wrapping around the center of the low is a little thunderstorm activity, which is also possible as we go throughout the day. i want to give you a closer look. you might have heard heavy downpours pushing through the coast, especially if you live in marin, san francisco, and some of the heavier spots in the yellow and orange. so moving toward 101, so as we get closer to the coastline, we're finding the heavier spots at this hour. through 80, berkeley, pushing through emeryville, also heavy cells that have pushed through, making the roadways very saturated with water at this hour. pushing through south city and the peninsula, we are looking at heavier spots down 280. this is going to continue throughout the day

cinthia pimentel is in for kari today.t's drier than yesterday. >> oh, yes, yesterday was sloppy, and today is calm for those hitting the road bright and early. you need a jacket because we are starting off with chilly 40s in santa clara valley. 53 in oakland, and low 50s in santa rosa. we are also looking at dense fog hanging around and a few areas of drizzle up towards the sonoma county coastline and up towards lake county. throughout the day we will dry out and go through the holiday weekend, and it will be chilly to start our christmas eve and christmas day as we get ready for the next round of rain next week. i will track that. mike spotted something on the bay bridge. what is going on? >> yeah, thank you for pointing out the flashing lights. things are now cleared over the last five minutes. everything eastbound, the headlights backed up for a bit on the decline, and i think it's the overnight crew picking up the last of the cones. we don't see any disturbances across the bay bridge or dumbarton or carquinez bridges.

first we go with cinthia pimentel. you are seeing a lot of rain where? >> we've seen it over the last couple hours for that morning commute. now some spots -- i'll zoom it in -- some spots have started to let up a little bit from parts of san francisco into parts of san mateo county, but it's picking up in the east bay and south bay. one place it's not let up all morning is marin county. we have that coastal flood advisory, too, so higher than normal tide mixed in with a lot of rainfall could be a concern for some trouble, especially where areas are prone to flooding. san rafael, mill valley getting in on the action, down through parts of the east bay. your commute over the bay bridge, down through hayward, the dublin interchange, very soggy at this time. both hands on the wheel, ease up on the brake, and you'll get there. moving through san jose and the santa cruz mountains, it's little lighter than what we've seen in the last couple hours, but down through 101 into parts of morgan hill and gilroy, those colors in the orange and the yellow signifying he

. >>> speaking of, let's check in with cinthia pimentel for a look at the timeline. >> good morning, closer to the bay area coastline. we can see right behind me that all of this activity is wrapping around this parent low off to the ocean, but it is bringing some showers, just parallel to the bay area and yes, some lightning strokes. so that's why we're under a microclimate weather alert. we are looking at those storms possibly touching land in the next couple of hours. so looking at some of that activity pushing through the coastline, just off of san francisco, half moon bay, santa cruz, but it could push through a couple of sprinkles here the coastline this morning, as most of that activity continues to light up here. it's scanning the skies from san bruno mountain, so looking at west of santa rosa, showers offshore that we will continue to monitor as the morning does on. otherwise, those temperatures not too bad. 40s and 50s around the bay area. that cloud cover making sure we are nice and cozy. another thing, aside from the rain, we are still under that air quality alert for the

cinthia pimentel has a look at the forecast. hey, cinthia. >> good morning, everyone. stunning already. look at the sun rise as we wake up to 37 degrees down here in the south bay. not bad from oakland to walnut creek to san francisco. 30s and 40s. the areas of concern continues to be the north bay, where we're waking up with the frost advisory. all of you guys are waking up with those temperatures running in the low to mid 30s. so if you are headed out bright and early, give yourself a couple more minutes to heat up the car. make sure you're scraping that patchy frost off of the windshield. this should be the last day we deal with those subfreezing temperatures. we are dealing with another concern this the north bay at this hour. looking at areas of patchy fog developing through the sonoma valley. freezing right there in santa rosa. 35 in concord. we continue to see that fog through the central valley. if you had plans to head out through ifx-99, that is an area of concern. walnut creek, starting with the 30s this morning. as we go into the afternoon, not going to war

. >>> let's start out with cinthia pimentel in for kari with a first look at our holiday forecast.eally seen the dense fog advisory trickle into some other places of the bay area, like the bay bridge toll plaza behind me. the richmond camera is also looking pretty socked in. we do have this advisory with us through at least 10:00 this morning. we see it creeping into parts of san francisco. so limit, of course, those beams, use your low beams, and give yourself extra distance in between the cars. walnut creek, i've seen a few areas of fog rolling on through, but mostly clear. we're starting off in the 40s and the 50s right now. we should see more sunshine after we mix out, staying nice and dry through the holiday weekend, with chilly mornings in the 30s and 40s, before we see the return of rain next week. the most wonderful time of the year, also one of the busiest times of the year for bay area airports. >>> our team coverage continues with "today in the bay"'s ginger conejero saab live at sfo. ginger, how are the lines looking so far? >> reporter: well, there are a number of line

forecaster cinthia pimentel is here.s, a downpour, how much are we talking about rain-wise? >> we've been talking about this, since sunday it started. it was light at first. some areas have seen over 4 inches of rain, the santa cruz mountains, and that's really good and bad for whoever may be in the line of the storm. but we were off to a slow start this season, now picking up on some of those rain totals, even through santa rosa, over 4 inches of rain, and more is on the way. these totals will be very different and we'll update them as we go into the afternoon and into tomorrow as well. san francisco, just about 2 inches of rain. as we made our way east and south, some of that rain total started to become a little less, especially toward antioch, just under 1 1/2 right now, and san jose, typical rain shadow effect where we've measured less than 1 inch of rainfall. we will be updating these water rain totals. it started october 1st and runs through july 1st. we are still at a deficit from santa rosa, oakland and down thr
