cinthia pimentel will be, along forecast in just a few minutes. but first, a plea deal is in the works for a disgraced former san jose city councilman who resigned after being charged with sexual abuse. omar torres was supposed to enter a plea yesterday, but his case was postponed. the san jose spotlight is reporting that torres attorney says a plelea agreement is in the works. police arrested torres last november in the wake of sex crime accusations. torres now faces three child molestation charges. meanwhile, this week, council members filled torres former district three seat. appointing and swearing in engineering executive karl salas. happening today, the a's family will join fans in a long awaited final farewell for the legendary rickey henderson. you may recall henderson died in late december, just days before what would have been his 66th birthday due to complications from pneumonia over his record breaking 25 year baseball career. he won two world series titles, an mvp award, and was a ten time all star. a celebration of life is at 1 p.m.

i'm kira klapper cinthia pimentel has a quick look at our microclimate forecast. and you're saying we might have some off and on rain today? yeah. and i'm saying i'm also a real scientist compared to the groundhog. so you choose. but i did want to talk about the huge range of rain that we've seen over the last two days. san jose rain shadowed once again, just over a 10th of an inch at san jose state, about half an inch or more as we move from concord to danville. but look up there towards the north bay, 2 to 3in mill valley, ground level right there, three inches, but up into the peaks. we are seeing mount tam approaching that seven inch mark and it's still raining light though right now through parts of san rafael, out there towards the richmond-san rafael bridge into san francisco and daly city. spotty rain continues into parts of sonoma and napa counties. i did want to mention that parts of highway 121 and 112 are closed because of some flooding, so just take some alternate routes if you need to. this morning still very light through parts of the south bay, so

i'm kira klapper cinthia pimentel has a quick look at our microclimate forecast. not to, you know, bite the hand that feeds us. i know we needed the rain, but it's nice to have this break. yeah, and now the clear skies and the calming winds allowingg the ear to cool way too much. so we are starting our weekend with some frost and freeze alerts to let you know of north bay, east bay valleys and down to the south bay foothills. that's where the purple freeze warning this morning isolated upper 20s in those winds sheltered valleys. and that's going to continue over the next couple of days. as we see that dry pattern. we look at 33 in danville right now, 32 in calistoga, low 40s, as we make our way from palo alto down into south san jose, as i was looking at some clouds that are keeping those temperatures just a little bit more mild, our day will include everybody in those 50s not really going to break into the 60s for the next couple of days. we'll keep it dry, but there is a big storm system that i'm watching our next atmospheric river. i'll be back with those detai

and cinthia pimentel, good morning. good morning everyone.bay there too, down into san jose. just still some light sprinkles. we see some low clouds hanging around, but all of that moisture will be coming in. it's tapping into parts as far south as hawaii, so we're going to get that pineapple express, as some people might know it, just coming into the bay area as we go on into our morning hours, really filling in here at around nine 10:00, i see a little bit of a break as we advance this timeline going on into the afternoon. so just a chance to run outside really quickly this weekend. expect it to also be a little bit windy at times through your neighborhood, but into tomorrow we do break that activity down further. getting some scattered showers here and there and into next week. we still have more storms ahead, so all of the rain boots, umbrellas, jackets, warm clothes that's what you need to wear for the next couple of days. i'll walk you through this timeline coming up in about 30 minutes. kara, back to you. all right. cynthia, thanks. al

finally, a break from the rain with cinthia pimentel. a break from the rain. but we are in the 39 degree mark right there. very cold up there for the north bay. 32 right now in santa ros those 30s continue out there towards the east bay. 36 in livermore right now with some low 40s stretching from mountain view down into san martin. as we go on and check there in livermore, there's also a little bit of some patchy fog. so just be careful out there. maybe if you're heading over the altamont pass in the next couple of minutes. we see that warm up slow this morning as we go on into the 9:00 hour. that's when that freeze and frost advisory messages will start to taper out. and then we go on into the lunchtime hour just a little bit warmer. still cool in those low 50s, but lots of sunshine. similar conditions out there in pacifica right now. we start the morning at 37 degrees. those 40s continue through the early morning hours as people are getting ready for brunch, heading to the grocery store. it will be dry and sunny and cool, so expect that to continue with the

cinthia pimentel is tracking the possibly dangerous conditions. cinthia. that's no joke. it sure isn't. we are under a winter storm warning that will go into effect in a couple of hours from now, lasting through about noon on friday. so what we're expecting right now is about 6 to 10in of some fresh powder in the lower levels, 2 to 3ft in those peaks. now, once you get to those peaks, also the very gusty wind, if you must travel up there, i recommend the chains, of course, and adding a couple more hours to that drive, snacks of course, and all of the emergency kits to get you through this. so let's give you a better timeline. here we go through the middle of the day and into the afternoon. that rain piling up on the valley floor, transitioning to the very heavy snow. once you get into the peaks there of 80 and 50, it is just sloppy as we carry it on. even into friday morning, i see a better chance for you maybe as we go on into late friday night, but by that point it's already dark. better conditions are expected as we go on into our saturday with the daylight as well. i

cinthia pimentel here with a look at how much snow though that area already received.l, we got some fresh totals as the morning went on, and we saw that storm dump some fresh powder up into the sierra. so let's take a look together at some of those numbers. palisades. that foot and a half there for our tuesday storm. north star coming really close at 15in. kirkwood followed up at eight, heavenly at six inches there and sierra at tahoe. not very impressive, but it is something. three inches of some fresh snow up there in south lake. now we are also recovering when it comes to our sierra snowpack. last week it was at around 65% statewide average. now we're catching up doing a little bit better, just over 70% now. as far as the forecast palisades tahoe there. we do see some clearing from that storm today, but we are tracking another one rolling in for thursday and friday. we'll be here to talk about all the advisories tomorrow morning on today in the bay, and a little bit of a sneak preview. the weekend looks better, so let's send it on over to kari, who has an outlook wi

cinthia pimentel is here with a look at just how much snow they got in that area. got some fresh numbers for north star palisades and sierra at tahoe. so i promise the last hour i would try to bring some south lake tahoe numbers. and we got sierra at tahoe. now more of these totals could change as sites update their numbers as the hours go on today. but let's take a look there. sierra snow lab just approaching that foot and a half north star. our latest update 15in boreal. just approaching that foot mark. and palisades a foot and a half there. looking good, sierra tahoe. we were a little behind, but not too bad. three inches of some fresh powder. now, as the snow pack starts to come in, we are looking at an improvement from last week. we were at 65% statewide. now this week we're bumping it up little by little to just over that 70% mark. now a little bit of a sneak peek here to the forecast. the snow has cleared today looking better as the day goes on, but it is going to return as we go on into thursday and friday. and the weekend is looking a little better. but me

cinthia pimentel is here with a look at just how much snow the area got. and we should be getting some more too. yeah, definitely. these totals could change as the sites update their numbers this morning, so hopefully i can bring you more updates from south lake tahoe. but for now, i did want to say up there in north lake tahoe, if we can show those graphics really quick, the sierra snow lab, we're expecting an update at around 8 or 9 this morning, but did really well in the last couple of hours, just over that foot approaching a foot and a half there. also through parts of the boreal soda springs. we're going to keep it there in the sugar bowl area to about a foot doing well. palisades just around that half an inch mark, half a foot mark. so we'll continue to watch that. we're also recovering really well with some good news there through our sierra snowpack last week, we were at 65%, with the statewide average now just over 70%. so we're recovering in that to after a really dry january. looking towards the next couple of days through palisades tahoe today
