i'm kira klapper cinthia pimentel has a quick look at our microclimate forecast. and boy, it's just, you know, it's officially winter. it is finally here. it is cold everywhere. but you know what's a nice little treat? the beautiful sunrises that we are getting. it was hard to choose just one, but i went with this one over san jose. the 280 and 17 interchange is looking gorgeous, but we are looking at those clear skies and calm wind, giving us some really cold numbers this morning. 30s and even some isolated upper 20s as we wake up with those freeze warnings and frost on the windshield. 29 in danville right now, as well as in boulder creek. we're approaching that in through parts of calistoga at 30 degrees. and we look at those upper 30s for fremont down into south san jose. now, the other prize will be aside from the sunrise will be the nice day. lots of sunshine with temperatures in the upper 50s here. enjoy this last sunny and dry day. we have a storm to talk about. i'll be back with that coming up in about 15 minutes. kira back to you. all right. cinthia. than

finally, a break from the rain with cinthia pimentel. a break from the rain. but we are in the 39 degree mark right there. very cold up there for the north bay. 32 right now in santa ros those 30s continue out there towards the east bay. 36 in livermore right now with some low 40s stretching from mountain view down into san martin. as we go on and check there in livermore, there's also a little bit of some patchy fog. so just be careful out there. maybe if you're heading over the altamont pass in the next couple of minutes. we see that warm up slow this morning as we go on into the 9:00 hour. that's when that freeze and frost advisory messages will start to taper out. and then we go on into the lunchtime hour just a little bit warmer. still cool in those low 50s, but lots of sunshine. similar conditions out there in pacifica right now. we start the morning at 37 degrees. those 40s continue through the early morning hours as people are getting ready for brunch, heading to the grocery store. it will be dry and sunny and cool, so expect that to continue with the

cinthia pimentel is tracking the possibly dangerous conditions. cinthia. that's no joke. it sure isn't. we are under a winter storm warning that will go into effect in a couple of hours from now, lasting through about noon on friday. so what we're expecting right now is about 6 to 10in of some fresh powder in the lower levels, 2 to 3ft in those peaks. now, once you get to those peaks, also the very gusty wind, if you must travel up there, i recommend the chains, of course, and adding a couple more hours to that drive, snacks of course, and all of the emergency kits to get you through this. so let's give you a better timeline. here we go through the middle of the day and into the afternoon. that rain piling up on the valley floor, transitioning to the very heavy snow. once you get into the peaks there of 80 and 50, it is just sloppy as we carry it on. even into friday morning, i see a better chance for you maybe as we go on into late friday night, but by that point it's already dark. better conditions are expected as we go on into our saturday with the daylight as well. i

cinthia pimentel is here with a look at just how much snow the area got. and we should be getting some more too. yeah, definitely. these totals could change as the sites update their numbers this morning, so hopefully i can bring you more updates from south lake tahoe. but for now, i did want to say up there in north lake tahoe, if we can show those graphics really quick, the sierra snow lab, we're expecting an update at around 8 or 9 this morning, but did really well in the last couple of hours, just over that foot approaching a foot and a half there. also through parts of the boreal soda springs. we're going to keep it there in the sugar bowl area to about a foot doing well. palisades just around that half an inch mark, half a foot mark. so we'll continue to watch that. we're also recovering really well with some good news there through our sierra snowpack last week, we were at 65%, with the statewide average now just over 70%. so we're recovering in that to after a really dry january. looking towards the next couple of days through palisades tahoe today
