we're just getting here to the scene in pinole. as you mentioned, that big rig overturning right before you get to appian way. you can see actually the tow truck is here. they just started lifting up that big rig. so when we were getting here, we were actually able to get off on the appian way exit. right now they're stopping traffic once you hit the richmond parkway exit. they are working to get that big rig out of the way, and at least information we're getting looks like this may have happened roughly around 2:45 a.m. that big rig may have been trying to avoid a car that was on the freeway, but we're waiting to get more information on that, but as i mentioned, you see that big regular, they're trying to move it off the road so they're stopping traffic once you pass richmond parkway, before you are approaching appian way, so that is the situation right now. we're going to continue to stay on scene and we'll provide another update for you guys as crews try to move that big rig off the road. >> all right, thank you very much, pete.

"today in the bay's" pete suratos has been live out there in pinole since that, and pete, all the lanes back open but what do investigators think about all of this? what do they say happened? >> reporter: good morning to you, guys. chp says that big rig driver was trying to avoid that car that was stopped in the slow lane and then that's how that big rig overturned, but as you can see over my shoulder, traffic is back to normal here on eastbound 80 near appian way but it was much different scene earlier this morning. we can show our viewers what the scene was like earlier this morning. according to chp, it took place roughly around 2:45 a.m. with the big rig driver swerving out of the way to avoid a black camry that stopped in the slow lane, but in the process, as i mentioned that big rig overturned. as for the driver of that camry, here is some video of that driver being handcuffed by chp. they say the car was stopped and that driver was apparently passed out. here is chp describing his condition when they arrived. >> the drunk driver was passed out and/or sleeping in the driver's seat
