we are standing on the pittsburg marina. the water here behind us is part of the sacramento rushest. this island behind us is called down's island. deputies say it's a virtual maze. you can see some of the grass here where we're standing. it's very tricky to navigate in and out of that island on 0 jet ski. that's exactly where those two jet skiers got into trouble yesterday. we watched as the contra costa county marine patrol units brought the jet skiers back to shore after they had been strand the and stuck on a single jet ski for nearly eight hours. they launched from the marina about 5:30. they got stuck and the grass plugged up the pumps and knocked out the jet ski engines. one of the jet skis sank. the men didn't have their cell phones or any way to contact anyone on shore. >> we're trying to make it to -- to -- toite i -- to the island. we were kind of pushing the jet ski. >> reporter: did i have cell phones. >> no. this could have been prevented. a lot of this water near the island is two feet deep with heavy grass. a
