they are considering a proposal to close station 87 in pittsburg this july. county supervisors could also decide to close a second fire station next year. as many as eight firefighters could be laid off. the vote comes a week after an east county fire station that closed last year, reopened with the help of federal grant money. it's one of three that closed last july. >>> caltrans engineers are using sound to test out bolts on the new bay bridge. dozens of bolts recently cracked when tightened. now engineers are trying to see if 200 other bolts that were made two years after the broken ones also need to be replaced. they are using a machine that can defect cracking noises inside the bolts. so far engineers say they've not heard any cracking. tomorrow, we could find out if the bridge will open on september 3rd as planned. >>> pleasant hill city council is giving a developer the go- ahead to there down an iconic dome movie theater despite neighborhood protests. the decision came early this morning in spite of packed pleas from speakers during a city council mee
