a visit this morning to plainfield. one of several places where tornadoes touched down briefly. >> a lot of debris is still lying around. many plainfield residents hardly needed. they continue to weigh further into restore electricity. the hum of generators has been constant since monday in many plainfield neighborhoods. one look in the backyard of this all makes it obvious why the power is out. the power problem is also still evident along lincoln highway. police are out today directing traffic at one of plainfield busiest intersections. this light has been out since monday. hundreds of crews have been working nonstop. city crews have already made creek and clearing a majority of downed trees. glad the storm swept away. the air-conditioner does not count. we're not far from where a massive and five tornado touched down in 1990. killing 29 people. fortunately nobody was hurt here this week. >> waiting for results to see if the water is clean enough for people to swim. of the city's 27 beach is closed for swimming yester

live in plainfield. back to you. >> a sinkhole caused by the heavy rains swallowed two cars in kane county. check out these pictures: it happened early yesterday morning on thomas road in burlington township. sheriff's police say a ford taurus drove into the washed out road and plunged into a ten-foot-wide sinkhole . a 41-year-old mother and her 15-year-old son were trapped. then .. a chevy pickup tried to pass through and drove over the taurus. emergency crews rescued the victims in the taurus. they were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the driver of the pickup was treated at the scene. and the storm kept swimmers out of lake michigan. there is a ban on swimming on chicago beaches due to concerns about the water quality. heavy rains overloaded the sewer system and stormwater tunnels causing sewage to flow into the lake. swimming will be allowed again when test results show it's ok. no word on when the results will come back. there's a temporary delay on the riverwalk expans
