live in plainfield. back to you. >> a sinkhole caused by the heavy rains swallowed two cars in kane county. check out these pictures: it happened early yesterday morning on thomas road in burlington township. sheriff's police say a ford taurus drove into the washed out road and plunged into a ten-foot-wide sinkhole . a 41-year-old mother and her 15-year-old son were trapped. then .. a chevy pickup tried to pass through and drove over the taurus. emergency crews rescued the victims in the taurus. they were taken to a nearby hospital with non-life threatening injuries. the driver of the pickup was treated at the scene. and the storm kept swimmers out of lake michigan. there is a ban on swimming on chicago beaches due to concerns about the water quality. heavy rains overloaded the sewer system and stormwater tunnels causing sewage to flow into the lake. swimming will be allowed again when test results show it's ok. no word on when the results will come back. there's a temporary delay on the riverwalk expans

ten children face possible arson charges for setting fires in southwest suburban plainfield. the children's ages range from eleven to 16. right now they're charged with property damage for setting fire to dumpsters and playground mulch. three incidents happened in june, and another happened last thursday. police say some of the juveniles admitted to setting the fires after seeing pictures of other incidents on social media. the cook county sheriff released a photo of the room where a man was trapped for more than 30 hours inside the county jail, before anyone found him. farad polk was there to see his son over the fourth of july weekend, when he was given directions to the visiting area.instead, he walked into this 8-by-8 room that's not used on the weekends ... and the door closed behind him. polk didn't have any food or water, and slept on the concrete floor. he was rescued by the chicago fire department 32 hours later, after he broke a sprinkler head. polk is now suing the county for emotional trauma. a public hearing was held to address a decline in minority student enrol
