elizabeth platte and hanukkah abe should be alive today and the system failed them. five days later, neither i nor the public has a clear view of what exactly went wrong in this case and we all deserve to know. unfortunately, this tragedy is not an isolated incident. last summer, a 19-year-old city college student was shot and killed during an attempted robbery. one of the sa assailants in that case was arrested on more than 10 firearms charges before being released. on december 20th, the san francisco police department reported arresting an individual for felony, motor vehicle theft. on december 29th, the department reported arresting another individual for burglary who was wearing a deactivated ankle bracelet during the incident. there has been far too many of these stories and far too few clear answers. about exactly what policies are in place or who's responsible when incidents like this occur. i think it is unacceptable for any of our departments to be pointing fingers rather than taking responsibility and that's especially true for our departments responsible f
