we refocussed our youth and community engagement unit located it at garfield playground in the mission district it was a playground at least in my time from 94 to 2000 was plagued by problems like drug use in the bathrooms acts of prostitution and the fields rarely used by the children and ever since it has been completely rejuvenated that playground and i'd invite anyone to go by. also we employ 35 youth on private dollars and over 250 other youth through the mayor's jobs program working directly with the police and then our projects that have been going on forever like the wellness program program saling and fishing and operation genesis where the children from the bayview hunters point area. we work with nonprofits like make a wish and that was the benefactor nor do we seek that out we just do it to do it. there's a lunar new year kick off. again the police academy community policing the alert system we re-envigorated the cadet program and about to hire 40 cadets but you still have to be in school and people interested in law enforcement and part-time jobs and the next several sides

there is a children's playground in the park that's just to the west of the main plaza. some of the images on the lower part of the crime scene -- scene are the equipment there and it's a charitable contribution. the 13 gardens i mentioned. they ring the park. there are various gardens that have unique flora and fauna. each of these would be identified with signage which talks about the flora and fauna in the park in the garden and would be described as the kind of environment they came from and that they are all suitable for california environment as well and they also would serve as an educational opportunity. alongside that informational signage which we believe would be a digital signage is interactive would be a plaque with the recognition of the sponsor. the grand hall is another exhibition itself away from the park with sponsorship opportunity. this is a view from the bus level looking down into the grand hall and we think it's the main husband -- hub of the building and varying kinds of opportunities for sponsorship. the main building in the grand haul -- hall th

we are grateful to bill ginsburg and his department for working with us on the joe dimaggio playground. is he is luis here? in the library who helped us this beautiful new library and did many of the people that stand behind me. and so, we need to take extra care to provide services to the people that live in this neighborhood. that is a passion of mine that's surely not going to change. we are the golden goose for the city. we have the shopping, we have the business centers, we have the tors and centers. i think surely every visitor to san francisco comes to district 3. we welcome them. we do our bed best to provide for that but making sure we can do that and was that's pleasurable for both visitors and for residents is another important task. so, all of these things by before us. i think those of you who know me, i hope no me as an honest and fair and passionate person. always willing to have a chat. that surely is not going to change. it's kind of fun being waged here. i feel like my neighborhood family in front of me and my city family behind me. the supervisors and the department

we renovated that playground to be a pretty good mraugd now 20 years later i have a letter from a friend from jackson i want to read the areas that concern is more the potential for ongoing noise and hazardous wastes in the demolition of the area near our schools and concerned with the shadows that fall on the park because of the height of the project it is the shadow that is the only decrease we have in the neighborhood we see that jackson mraurld got one hundred percent cleanlyness we saw syringes and beer bottles that happened a few years ago it fails to talk about the poor conditions in the restrooms it is really gross and the pelosi and lead basz based paint i went through a couple of classrooms in that mraurld and the clogged drinking fountains given this it if seem the eir sufficiently addresses the new unit directly across the park jackson park is the only park and will be a draw if you want to work with the vendors to see it serves not only the housing needs but the long term stnlts for all residents and as a side my husband i, tell you there's a baby damon boom you'll see kids

as many of rib the neighborhood camp counselor was fatally shot in the playground basketball courts. as you can imagine the incident impacted people in the valley neighborhood including many youth that are in our unified school district. following the incident, city departments including but not limited to department of public health, district attorney's office, the victims unit and the san francisco unified school district to those who were impacted receive the appropriate support services they e need including counseling and mental health support and many had to start a new school year after it happened. it is been about 6 months since this incident and i would like to receive an update about this incident including the services they have received and how this is coordinating this effort. it is our responsibility to ensure our young people impacted by this incident are supported, not just the weeks but continually months if need be years. we should be tracking all of their progress and not leave anyone behind. i look forward to this hearing from the respective city departments abou

to honor the incredible work that they are doing to activate one of our two playgrounds in the tenderloin and make it a safe place for our families. i do want to also recognize the commission for acknowledging this park and including it your tier 1 funds for family playgrounds. we're so excited about this work. so i also want to thank you for providing the community and our office additional time both to evaluate the project, speak to the project sponsor, and perform some additional outreach around the shadow impact that is this project will cast on the park. i just want to summarize my opposition to the 190 russ project and why i feel that the shadow impact, while just under the threshold of recommended acceptable new shadow on a park of this size which is over two acres, it's substantive in its quality and therefore, should earn the disapproval of this commission and guidance to the planning commission. so first, victoria manalo draves is the only multi-use park in the south of market neighborhood, a neighborhood that is absorbing the vast majority of office and residential growth. john
