here's a live look at the pnb building in center city. those letters have been a part of the skyline since the 1950s. this morning they'll come down by helicopter. nbc 10 matt delucia is live in center city. you've been talking to folks gathering to watch this big operation. >> reporter: yeah, ted, we have been waiting. waiting continues at this hour. take a look. we have a small crowd that's formed at love park. they've got cameras out and ready. some had been out here for a couple of hours. this is what they're going to watch. right up there the pnb letters removed later this morning. we're waiting for a helicopter to come in and take 12 letters down. then those letters will be moved to the north side of city hall. they'll be loaded up on trucks and taken out of here. take a look at video that we shot earlier this morning. police had to tape off this entire area to make sure that no traffic was getting through. to make sure no pedestrians could get through because of that activity. they're moving letters from one spot to another loading

the pnb letters are coming down from the 1 broad street buildings. those letters has been a fixture since 1955. last month the owner of the buildings got the okay to take them down. john rawlins has been watching the delicate operation all morning and joins us live from at this time. good afternoon, john. >> reporter: good afternoon, it is a slow process. they had hoped to be done by now. that's not the case. you can see the folks in charge conferring with the police on the ground. so far they have removed two of the 12 letters, last we heard they would remove four more before calling it a day. >> buildings up the drama, this is so incredible, i'm surprised there's not more people watching this. it's not everyday you get to a major crane and helicopter, i am a filmmaker. >> it's quite a show, but no hollywood magic, but real world helicopter and multiple skilled workers lifting off 16-foot, 3,000-pound letters down to the street a mid a powerful downdraft. >> that's been here a long time. >> reporter: since 19352, when the pnb put it's brands on it.

let's talk to gareth lewis davies from pnb paribas. gareth, i want to get your take on the oil prices. we saw a huge jump in oil prices. this time around in august, again, markets are very sanguin. why is that? >> i suppose after the initial shock of the gains by isis, it soon became apparent that oil supplies weren't affected by the conflict. so this led to a sell-off following a temporary regard price run. the other thing is that the the market's fundamentals according to the iea report released today is that there's ample supplies, particularly in the basin. this led to an increase in stocks held by the developed economies. and also we've seen lower or weaker demand in the second quarter. that may be due to low economic activity, but also perhaps lower use of crude in refineries particularly in europe, where we have seen some cuts. so the world appears amply supplied with crude at the moment and this is a separate issue from the geopolitical issues that are continuing. >> gareth, i want to come back to kurdistan at the moment. it do
