you are part of an organization that has oversight over the poa and police department and the poa is considered the most powerful union in san francisco. president mazzucco: next speaker. >> good evening, commissioners. i am a business consultant. i would like to talk to about some research i have done and outrage on the broadway corridor regarding towing on friday and saturday nights. some of the research i have discovered is that diners who are being towed after 8:00 p.m., whether they arcturus or locals alike, feel it is unfair practice. we have had good, healthy dialogue with the pe who have led their ears to us. we have a very healthy dialogue and hope that we can come up with some type of compromise, perhaps maybe 10:00 p.m. on the weekends. we wanted to get to a point where we do not compromise any safety. in the corridor. generally speaking, the corridor has had issues and sometimes we get an element that comes in after 11:00 p.m. or 12:00 p.m. the pd has their hands full. those are issues that go on beyond the bewitching hour, whereas diners and tourists alike, we want to se

just signed off on by all the police employee groups, who will now meet and confer with the pla -- poa. i am confident i will make that september 15 promise to have that draft to you for adoption. will have the first career development policy in the history of the department. we are meeting with district station personnel to hear from the officers. i met with southern station and inside station this morning. on wednesday nights, i go back and meet with the officers from 9:00 to 11:00. there have been great ideas that have come from the officers, and some concerns they expressed have been addressed. it all goes toward we are one police department, one city. it is not just the sort -- just the command staff. none of this could have been accomplished without their input. the amount of talent behind me is unbelievable, and i am blessed to have them is my command staff. we have established guidelines for training for plainclothes officers. that was a concern when i first came into my position. we have established proportions at the stations to have tighter, smaller units to insure better co

>> before we get further, steve johnson from the poa is here. is there anything you would like to add? >> thank you, commissioner. this is one of the most important items, helping the members out. they do a tremendous amount of work and we try to work with them. any support you can give them would be greatly appreciated. thank you. president mazzucco: thank you. is there any public comment regarding this presentation? >> >> we brought of the suicide rate and the unauthorized use by a policeman. correct me if i'm wrong. i always call them officers. is this information available to all policemen of all ranks which was clear that it was not. i saw that it was not clear whether the suicide rate was related to a police officer in combat or a police officer that had fired his weapon or not fired his weapon. this is an interesting topic. in afghanistan, they were running 30 suicides a month. it is not clear where we are on this. i think this is a great topic to be discussed and it should be available to every police officer in the city and county of sa
