i want to start off by showing this big story in politico called eve of destruction. ominous headline. went on to say it's almost impossible to find an establishment republican who's not downright morose about 2013 that has been and about to be. most dance around it in public, but it's a year that's a disaster in the making etch if they don't know it. your response? >> good to be on your show. >> you got it in, okay. >> listen. and if you saw the next few politico articles, you saw articles just yesterday about the peace and actually detente on the republican national committee between those libertarians and the rnc. i actually think, george, look, you know what, a healthy family debate is not a bad thing at all. i really believe that. i don't think at that time when we just came off of a presidential election that having a party that's dull and boring is good not just for the party, but our country. i think the debates are good. i was there in boston. obviously i would appear to be someone that would be claiming that everything is hunky doorry, but we had a very posi

the problem is, it's the politico, top politico story, eve of destruction. i think it's a little melodramatic, but how republicans all the things that you go talk to republican leaders that are in charge in washington, d.c., or that want to be in charge in 2016 off the record, robert gibbs, they are more depressed and they are more down today, it's -- it's -- mike allen and jim vandehei wrote this article -- than they were after barack obama's re-election. that things have gotten even worse inside the party. >> well, i guess in some ways i find that hard to believe because i don't -- i think they thought they were going to win in 2012 and that didn't happen. >> right. >> it is clear and i don't think the party will have a standard bearer for quite some time. they're going to have these interparty discussions. i would say the only problem with what you and what governor rendell outlined is, the primaries, the caucuses, this process is not dominated by anything other than very, very strict social and economic conservatives. look at the debate we've had over th

yet, these were at the top of the most red -- read items on politico. it's just an obsession with all things hillary in 2016. what i look to be the hillary clinton experience, if you will, right now, is what is she asking people to think about and look to? last week she gave her first real domestic policy speech. the secretary of state couldn't talk about policy and couldn't go to conventions. this was sort of her return. a big spotlight, obviously, for her to tell us what we should be thinking about. what did she say? she said that there's a war on voting going on in this country. she said it's not something that we can just look at through false equivalency or through some model of bipartisanship. she said when you look at the facts, what you have are republicans at the local level and certain states trying to keep people from exercising their right to vote and doing it in a way that is basically anti-poor, anti-populous, and in some cases racist. i thought that was very significant. that's where her campaign, if it is a campaign -- we don't know -- i
