members of the polaris investment club. gentlemen, after all we've seen in the past years, the bear market uthe flash crash, knight capital trading almost collapsed in the last week. is the stock market still meeting your investment goals? it is. it's a business, and businesses have imperfections, but i still think there's profit to be made and gains to be made if you're prudent. and willing to take a little risk. >> does this shake your confidence? >> i wont say it has shaken my confidence, and i'm almost fully invested in the market. >> tom: what do you say to those who have sworn off the stock market, too risky and too much potential of fraud? >> i think in terms of growing wealth, it's still one of the best places can you go, and i know real estate is good. but for right now general knowledge of stocks will pay enormous dividends over the course of their life. >> the price of a stock directly follows the earnings per share, and if they're going up, you're going to find a good horse to bet on. >> your polaris investment

tomorrow we'll hear more from the members of the polaris investment club tomorrow on n.b.r. >> susie: all it takes is a quick online search to see how many groups are using polls to track the presidential race. but its getting harder, and more expensive, to produce those results. sylvia hall reports on the business of polling. >> reporter: while the candidates criss-cross the country trying to get your vote, pollsters are hitting the phone lines, looking for your opinion on the race. groups like gallup, pew research, and rasmussen are in high gear this year, checking the pulse of the nation as november approaches. >> the business has grown tremendously. if you look at the time when lou harris was polling for the candidate john kennedy, there were only a few pollsters in the field. today we have more than a dozen pollsters releasing results on a fairly regular basis and so we're inundated with poll findings. >> reporter: but, the polling business is changing. a third of u.s. households only have cell phones, and not landlines. when pollsters call cell phones, only about 10% of people a

>> polaris is a great company. they call themselves the best in power sports. they are the leader in off-road vehicles are and specifically in side-by-side off-road investigation. while a lot of consumer-oriented companies have struggled, this company has been able to grow share in an admittedly difficult consumer environment, and we think the product innovation will allow them to keep that growth going forward. >> susie: let's talk about your next stock, p.q.r., wasn'to services. this is a new stock in your portfolio. why are you recommending it? >> wasn'to services is a new purchase for us. we bought it back in june. everybody is familiar with the problems with the united states electrical grid. by some estimates, about two-third of the grid has passed its useful life. they provide electric transmission services, about two-third of their business. they make money by upgrading that grid, and we're really starting to see the utility companies put money to work doing those upgrades. they stand to benefit for the next several years from upgrade cycle.li upgrade c
