they take proposals on various topics and the police commission and the san francisco police department are engaged in some pretty cutting edge policies from the work we're doing around community policing to the work around hour crisis intervention team or also, the juvenile protocols we have in place and other jurisdictions are interested, would be interested in what we do. in addition to my attendance, one of the attendees was the director of the police complaints authority of trinidad and tobago. following the conference, she came out to san francisco with a delegation to understand how the office of complaints works. she was able to meet with representatives from the u.s. attorney's office. the office only investigates the most serious complaints of police misconduct including criminal misconduct and misconduct involving serious injury. you also have before you of the august comprehensive statistical report. in the report, you will find that 69 complaints with it -- were filed in august. through august 31, 2011, 552 complaints have been filed. as of that date, the occ closed 554 cas

having been a member of experf e police commission, i know how the police department works, and i know the role they play in the life of a community. i want to think officers, because they have a very tough job, and they put their lives on the line literally every day. that said, we always have to make sure there is accountability to the committee, and that can only happen if we have these kinds of forms where we can hear directly from members of the community. what that -- what i can tell you is that as a supervisor, the moment an incident happens, i am in close communication with the police department and not only with the cheap, but the district captain. i want to recognize the capt. because he has been very responsive to make sure this district has the resources needed, to make sure they have what it takes to do their jobs, and he has been a strong advocate for making sure that those resources are provided. i want to thank chief sir for making that happen as well. here at the oakland police station, police are trying to crack this case.y have not said whether or not they have a suspect in custody yet. you're looking at some video from last night. the shooting happened around 9:30. the east bay dragons motorcycle club is on 88th and international. police say a man was shot several times in the garage of the motorcycle club. he was taken to the hospital where he died soon after. now, the theory that police are work off of right now is that the suspected shooter may have been kicked out of the club earlier in the evening and then perhaps he returned and then shot this man several times. we know that there were dozens of people waiting outside of the hospital as this man was dying overnight. again, it does appear to be a fairly popular member of the club. but police are not confirming whether or not he was indeed a member of the club. now, you may remember there was a shooting last memorial day. a man and a woman were shot at a sideshow in east oakland outside of the club. and at that point members of the eats bay dragon
