polk is now suing the county for emotional trauma. a public hearing was held to address a decline in minority student enrollment at elite c-p- s high schools, especially on the north side. the city council's education and child development committee claims that the numbers dropped after 2009, when a federal court lifted a decree that required top-tier schools be no more than 35-percent white. but, a sun-times report found that white admissions have increased at walter payton, jones, northside and whitney young college preps. c-p-s says that's not true, that minority enrollment at all ten selective high schools is up. one alderman said families on the south and west sides don't always know they can apply to selective enrollment schools on the north side. we have tended and they're all intertwined. but look at the opportunities we don't simply work at these four schools in isolation did not recognize the fantastic opportunity in the other schools, we have to talk about them as a whole, all 10 years together. >>the foundation overseeing
