so, what given all of that is ponl in terms of a common narrative for the future?i think it requires what i have described most recently as a concept of constructive realism. and a concept of constructive realism which buildings towards a concept of a common future. a word about each of those words. realism, if you spend enough time in this town and you look at u.s. foreign policy in its 20th century history, this is a deeply realist foreign policy establishment and for entirely understandable reasons. when you look at the school as it's evolved here at a theoretical value, it's rich and it's deep and reflected in the behavior of practitioners. in china realism called by various different things is equally apparent. equally part of the chinese tradition of understanding foreign policy engagement every morganthou there are probably ten chinese equivalents. has all sorts of potential difficulties arising from that of itself in terms of the expiration of mutual trust. before a chance is even given in the first place. but given this is such a profound reality in both c
