our next agenda item is an update on the development of the new affordable housing data portal. we have mr. chiu ms. yanga and ms. sallee. >> good afternoon, brian chew director of community development and mayor's housing and community development. i think as many of you may recall we gave a presentation i want to say last fall was the time when we were preparing comments on our annual consolidated plans that we sent to hud and we solicited input from you, the council, as best we could toen corporate in our plan and what we spoke about was the creation of an online housing data portal in our attempt to make access to our unfortunately somewhat limited affordable housing more achievable by the broad range of san francisco residents. we are here to give you an update on the process. i will give you a little bit about where we are and who we worked with to get to this point and then mr. solomon will talk a little bit more specifically about the technical aspects of creating the website and my primary point is that to give you some information but to actually solicit as

their cleanup day at west portal playground at 10:00. today colleagues, i'm requesting a hearing to get an update basically on the work to prevent chronic absenteeism. at our san francisco public schools. years ago i had authored a policy to look at this whole issue of chronic absenteeism in the public schools. and when i say "chronic absenteeism" ksh just so people know what i'm talking about -- it's really defined by students who have been absent at least 10% or more of the school year. and at the time when i introduced it, people didn't understand the impact this has, because most of this actually occurs when kids are young -- kindergarten, first, second grade. in fact, one school had 40% of the kids missing, which would be labeled chronic absentee. the impact is this -- when we look closely at which schools were doing well and which schools were having high cases of absenteeism, they were closely aligned. the higher the absenteeism in terms of chronic absenteeism, the lower their test scores. and one of the things that i realize at t
