and i go to all 29 west coast ports because we represent the worker in those ports. but in saying that, people have a right to their opinion, but i will say this september we have the opening of the [speaker not understood] cruise terminal. we have other important projects that we're trying to get forward because one thing that this commission understands, some people don't get. this port belongs to every citizen in san francisco, california, whether you have money or not, and i've always said that. that's why we're even going out into the community because sometimes the community can't come up here to the ivory towers so we're going out into the community. we want to educate them about their port. this is their port. they have to be engaged. we listen. but sometimes you have to make decisions. this commission doesn't waiver. we have backbone. we will make a decision that may piss some people off. but so be it, we're not afraid to make some decisions. i can tell you myself i'm not running for a job in city hall, i'm not running for a job in sacramento and i'm not run

it generates welcome $3 million a year to the port. it has a wide range of tenants, everything from the san francisco water transit agency, to the blue and gold fleet, san francisco bar pilots, architectural resources, arg, and most recently auto desk, you know, fortune 500 company that we all know of, proud of, being a port tenant. they are currently investing upwards of $16 million into the pier for their applied sciences development center. you know how amazing that premise is. this past december the port commission agreed to an agreement with the auto desk to further expands their premises at pier 9 and this further expansion called for auto desk and san francisco bar palace to come to some agreement as to the gate and ingress at the end of pier 9. it became pretty clear as both parties started to look at the expansion that as envisioned, the expansion could cause some serious vehicular circulation issues. we've gone back and forth on solutions to this problem and the bar pilots and auto desk come to the port and come to a solution

soon after the fire, port staff basically -- not port staff, but port rebuilt the bulkhead building, completeding repairs in time for the 34th america's cup events. during the events, the bulkhead building was used by america's cup in support of america's cup events at the site. more specifically, a fairly large portion of the bulkhead building was occupied by the waihiki island yacht club restaurant which is basically a pop-up style restaurant meant only to be used for the event t. was actually up only for about six months. and when the restaurant was removed, the bulkhead building has now subsequently been used on an interim basis for basically supporting the phase two of the cruise terminal project. now that san francisco is no longer being considered for a host for the 35th america's cup, port staff believes that it is appropriate time to share some of our ideas with the port commission and the public and to retain and get feedback from you. real estate staff believe the pier 29 bulkhead building represents a valuable leasing opportunity. since it was recently renovated because o
