monique from the port of san francisco. thank you for the opportunity to talk about the port today. i'm accompanied by the port's staff as well, not the whole gam mutt, but i will rely on them for questions. i really appreciate the opportunity to set the context for the port's budget because i think the port struggles from an identity crisis. we are best known for our land use debates, but we really do a lot more for the community than to talk about just land use. i think it's important to realize that because that's where our budget comes from and that's where our budget goes. and so having said that, i want to point out that we are a port. we're also a water front. we're much envied for being able to be both. we're not behind fences, as other ports around the world are. one of the things we do for the city that's probably of the most value is our historic sea wall so i'll talk about that in a little bit. just to do a quick refresher, the port's mission is codified in law and we have a couple at attributes that date back to our founding in 1860s. the first is to promote te merry ti

commissioners. members of the public and ports that. welcome to our april 22 meeting. i have a long executive directors report today because apparently is is incredibly busy time but i hope to move through it really quickly. i want to start by talking about a cruise out with 4 2014 and 2015. we are really excited to report that 2014 will be a record-setting year for crew shipping at the port of san francisco. we are expecting 75 cruiseship calls carrying approximately 260,000 guests plus of course the cruise. so this is a new high record for the port in modern time and were very very excited about it. this has been continuing over the last couple of years and 2013 the port hosted 64 crucial calls at 213,000 cruiseship passengers and that was our highest number of guest since 2006. so we are seen incredible growth in our business here on the west coast for any number of reasons but were very excited about it. 2015 is looking even bigger with 84 calls booked. we are expecting to cross the 300,000 passenger mark for the 1st time in modern times. so we are really excited about that. it'

and executive director mirror and the port staff.indeed it's a privilege for me to come and share a few facts and figures about our almost first year and some really existing facts to share. as monique mentioned we have our one millionth visited show up on march 15 we're heading towards 1.1 and 2 million visitors in the first year are this is the busiest time of the year. our overall attention is 2 1/2 times more and those numbers would be unconceivable without those facilities. we're seeing twice as many school field trippers and, in fact, we've seen 25 percent more and the reason why we're seeing more school field trips is because of the number of buzz on and off the embarcadero. everybody was surprised seeing half of the field trips are by public transportation so if you get a chance to way. up and down the embarcadero you'll see tons of kids dressed up in hats or whatever it's remarkable especially in the springtime and what happens we've also we would 15 thousand school kids as title one students through pg&e one of our sponsor.
