nbc's camila rambaldi is in porter ranch tonight.he northern part of the san fernando valley, here in the porter ranch area, where the wind has already started to pick up here this evening. you can see the palm fronds and the tree branches swaying here we are anticipating winds gusting as high as 55mph for porter ranch during the peak time, which is expected to be from 4 a.m. tuesday to 12 p.m. wednesday. this wind event is raising concerns for fire officials due to the increased wildfire threat. a red flag warning will be in effect monday night through wednesday, indicating dangerous wildfire conditions. the palisades fire, eaton fire and hurst fire have scorched more than 38,000 acres combined in los angeles county. a firefight still not over yet as officials continue to monitor those wind conditions tonight, reminding everyone to stay alert and to heed to evacuation warnings and orders in porter ranch. camila rambaldi, nbc, bay area camila, thank you. let's bring it back to our chief meteorologist, jeff ranieri, talking about just

porter ranch 70. and then across the bay area. top gusts here was mount saint helena right around 5:00 this morning at 64mph. i haven't seen anything that gusty here in the past few hours at mount saint helena, but we still are clocking some strong winds, as you can see right now on the current gusts, most of the lower elevations 15 to about 20. so not a big concern for a lot of the populated zones up towards mount saint helena, though we're up to 39. mount diablo, with some strong winds coming out of the north here at 43. so the big headline here is, as we roll through tonight, we're still looking at some of these isolated gusts, 15 to about 35mph that still could get up there for the lower elevations and the mountains 40 to about 50. but look at how that wind calms down for tomorrow morning. it's only 3 to 18mph. we would continue to see that wind cacalming do through tomorrow afternoon and evening. so again, i think tonight we get through that and we're good to go here across the bay area. southern california likely going to st

malibu, 72, chino hills, 71, porter ranch 70. and that mount saint helena gusts here back in the bay area was our top gusts 64mph coming in at the 5 a.m. hour. so winds right now are starting to at least calm down a little bit for the bay area. but i really think overall, as we head through tomorrow, we are not going to be under the threat of any kind of gusty winds as this system that's been producing the winds continues to exit off towards the south. so we'll be left with high pressure. that's going to bring us more dry weather in the forecast through the next several days. so let's take it into that wind forecast. and you'll see tonight still some of these dry gusts coming out of the northeast 15 to about 35mph on average. and then watch this by tomorrow morning. there we go. that wind is a lot less. 8 a.m, just five to about 18mph. tomorrow afternoon and evening. even lower. only 5 to 9mph. so a much shorter window on the wind for us down in southern california. they're going to stay with gusty winds all the way through. abou

steve patterson is in the porter ranch neighborhood in los angeles where we can see the winds are certainlywhy we are here. we are hearing about a particularly dangerous situation. that's the official designation. it is meant to be a particular elevation from the normal red flag winds that we normally have on the ground. it's even worse that the last three times we've had this designation it has led to serious property damage including the worst fires in california history. meanwhile, there's great worry that as this goes down to lower elevations we are seeing wind gust 60 to 70 miles per hour. as this comes down it could start new fires. overnight firefighters doing their best to battle some of those pressures fires we have seen. the real worry is the major fires we have had. the palisades fire 14% contained. the eaton fire 13% contained. this could easily move the fire somewhere new causing a lot more of a mess. there's also the possibility of electric shutdowns for several thousand customers in the area. want to limit the fire danger, but we are in severe fire danger with the national we
