a lot of the people in the portola did go to work at the bayview hunters point shipyard. the community has changed a lot since the 1920's, were originally started out as a large jewish community. after the jewish are adolescents -- after the jewish settlers, they became more maltese and italian. the last census showed, we were 53% asian-pacific islander. the community has continued to grow and change. everyone has really embraced that. we liked that sort of diversity here. >> now, let's meet the president of the dogpatch neighborhood association. she will tell us about life in dogpatch, a clean neighborhood on the eastern edge of potrero hill, and we will learn how the residents convinced the city to a vigil -- to designate the area a historic district. >> dogpatch and the health and cottages are the historic houses in the area. those were built for the union ironwork. this really is one of the most original live-work neighborhoods in san francisco. because of this mix of housing and industrial, they need to sit in terms of scale and mass and height for the neighborhood.

it runs from portola avenue to greenville road. the official ribbon cutting ceremony is set for 1:00. >>> 7:37. sal, that sounds like a good thing, right? >> yes. in transportation line, it's like getting a new video game released. good morning, everybody. let's take a look at the commute now, traffic is busy as you are driving on southbound 101. it's backed up coming in from novato near marinwood and that slows down to central san rafael. no major problems on the richmond bridge getting into richmond county or leaving it for that that the matter. we're looking at the commute at the bay bridge toll plaza which has been busy, just after years of looking at this, it does appear, a little later on, this will lighten up for you. we'll see. but it's moving along pretty well for the morning commute. it's about a 12-minute delay. westbound 580 traffic is busy in livermore. you can see the road sensors are picking up slow traffic. it's extending into dublin. 101, southbound, is slow from airport to pockets down in san mateo. here's steve.
