along the tidal potomac. it's 50 in baltimore but most spots still in the 40s. 46 martinsburg and winchester. 54 in easton and 52 in pax river right now. temperatures aren't going to budge very far from where they are at the moment and this is what it feels like when you combine the winds with the current temperature. feels like 34 in frederick. 44 in gaithersburg. feels like 52 in annapolis because the winds have settled down but 42 in winchester. definitely feeling december 'ish for halloween. a nice shot of the capitol building but still lots of clouds in place. only 49 degrees at reagan national and feels like 45 with the dew point of 38 and the winds at 9 miles per hour. a wide view of your satellite shows just how expansive sandy still is and we have another system approaching from the pacific northwest that will impact us as we head into next week. but in the meantime sandy slowly lifts out of here. the remnants of sandy. and we will enjoy a pretty decent weekend i think. so we can look forward to that

we've been watching the potomac rising this morning. i'm on a pier of sorts, sort of a dock, a pier here in old town. you'll see we're less than a foot away from the water coming up. we're very close to high tide here. once the water comes to high tide, if it's going to flood, it floods quickly. that's the situation in old town alexandria. we want to tell you a little bit about the huntington section of alexandria. also very flood prone. we want to show you video of preparations there yesterday. why we talked about huntington. less than a year ago, just about a year ago this time, that area of alexandria flooded very, very badly. next week residents in fairfax county are going to head to the polls and they're going to vote on a $30 million referendum for huntington about whether to build a levee system because this area tends to flood often. in 2006, 2011 really big flooding in those parts. also bell haven, the new alexander -- the new section of alexandria, these are very flood prone areas. we're watching the water here. as you can see

potomac eight feet above flood stage. here's sandy producing snow amounts into a little bit of a mix in the higher elevations. light to occasionally moderate rain showers. we've seen the trend to reduce. we are still seeing a few more of the moderate ones here into western lauren county. there is a lot less yellow on the map. generally west at 15. almost down to about 66 here in north western areas. and then you look at and starting to see breaks showing up in the radar. this is good. we will get down from steady rain to lighter showers that are falling which shouldn't exacerbate the flood situation. unfortunately has a lot of high strings and creates numerous flood warnings. if you see any high water turn around don't drown. your winds gusting to 21 here in town. 20 in annapolis. some of the higher gusts are 25. where the snow has been flying. i saw is a picture there about a foot to 18 inches of snow. and there is again potentially twice that at canine valley. this is out of oakville, west virginia. you can see the snow
