get the distinction of being one of the tallest regiments on average to serve in the army of the potomac. company g is almost entirely over six feet tall and some accounts place their captain at around 6 foot 11 and the rest of the regimen tended to have about 50% or more at or above six feet tall, so i would have to imagine that this is a pretty imposing regimen in line of battle if you're marching out on the battlefield across from them. now we're not going to talk about every battle experience that the 27th, indiana has if you want to look through that i highly recommend they're regimental history because it is is very well written, but i want to touch on their first. so their first battle is the first battle of winchester and may of 1862 and it is it is not a great debut showing they're going to lose dozens of their soldiers captured in their first engagement. it's going to be kind of a chaotic debacle. all around ranking is going to lose a lot of local friends to that uncertainty of prisoner of war life, but this chaos of combat is going to set a precedent for what some of rankin's
