experience it up close and in the helicopter used to save five people from frozen potomac river after the air florida crash of 1982 is going to be the centerpiece of new nationalorcement museum in washington. news 4's mark segraves got an exclusive look. >> it was a bitter cold day in january 1982. 78 people died after air florids flight 9d into the 14th street bridge plunging into the potomac river. thanks to the heroicts of chopper pilot don usher and bs partner gene windsor, five of those people onrd the plane were saved, literally plucked from the frozen river bh two men and helicopter in what many consider one of the greatest rescues in aviation history. a few years after the rescue, the chopper was retired from police service replaced by larger, stronger helicopters. gle 1 was sent to the department of interior where it was used for decades. but a few years ago it was scheduled to be scrapped. aw t's when the national enforcement museum stepped in and restored the chopper to its original condition. the last time we showed u the helicopter, it hadeen reassembled and stored and sitting at a hangar in the park headquarters. it had to be taken apart again an
