we love our families in the bayview whether they are in sunnyvale or alice griffith or potrero hill or in the mission. we love them so much that we have to do more to care for them. we have to find those connections. [applause] there are too many stories that we are hearing from our clergy when it is too late. when we are having those individual funerals, when our parents and their brothers and sisters are crying over things that have already happened, where the jobs that we are creating did not reach these unfortunate young kids or our police commissioners and police chief working in concert with adult probation, juvenile probation, did not quite get the person who signed these papers, put their names to it saying, "i will not go back to where our was found with a gun or associate with those very known individuals that are participating in gang mentalities." de sign those papers. yet, within days, they are found. we are not reaching them. we are not penetrating those kids. we have to step it up. this is why our supervisors and i have been talking very deliberately to come together wit

toward the success and the projects and the living wall in the tenderloin community garden and the potrero hillt farm and let me thank someone that has been invaluable to me and my career and my work and my efforts to make this city successful. i want to acknowledge a pioneer in the sustainable practices our former mayor and now lieutenant governor gavin newsom. [applause] >> a couple years ago then mayor newsom forged a partner with san francisco and president clinton and the clinton global initiative to transform the civic city into the first of its kind sustainable resource district. since then we have built 525 golden gate, our puc building, one of the greenest in north america and on track to receive lead platinum certification. yes. we have installed electric charging stations here at civic center. we have free wi-fi. we have installations at the urban gardens and led lights in the plaza and we continue to do even more. i am proud to announce here that we have applied for lead certification of eight of the existing buildings in the san francisco historic civic center district. potrero hill and southeast health centers are health centers in those particular communities that are family health centers, so they provide health care to patients across the age span. . >> many of our clients are working poor. they pay their taxes. they may run into a rough patch now and then and what we're able to provide is a bridge towards getting them back on their feet. the center averages about 14,000 visits a year in the health clinic alone. one of the areas that we specialize in is family medicine, but the additional focus of that is is to provide care to women and children. women find out they're pregnant, we talk to them about the importance of getting good prenatal care which takes many visits. we initially will see them for their full physical to determine their base line health, and then enroll them in prenatal care which occurs over the next 9 months. group prenatal care is designed to give women the opportunity to bond during their pregnancy with other women that have similar due dates. our doctors here are family doctors. they are able to help these women deliver the

year, we rolled out coined of a large parking management strategy covering a large area including potrero hill and dogpatch and mission bay. we got pretty significant feedback and it was not positive feedback in terms of our plan and process. so, as we saw to you at the time, we kind of stepped back, we listened to what the community was saying in terms of their desire for more focused process for better data and more time to evaluate. so, last thursday was kind of the first phase of the first of the neighborhoods for that. that one of the impetuses for that project is the fact the parking lot at 17th and folsom which holds 220 cards is going away. it's going to become a city park and housing development. * cars so, the need to develop parking solutions is the most acute here which is why we have this area first up. supervisors com poems and cohen joined the meeting. we got a lot of feedback. most of it constructive. and we'll be working over the next few months. we'll have follow-up meetings, late winter, early spring and hopefully have a proposal for you probably some time in the spring we h
