[cheering and applauding] cheers >> so, a few years back there was this little idea to take back the bayview and really began to rewrite the history and the narrative that we often hear about in bayview. and it actually started, ironically, with a small little abandoned swath of land that has grown up to become the cuseda garden. and it's the thought child and the physical manifestation of hard work, of a few community leaders that got together and rolled up their sleeves and got to work. and tonight i have the honor to introduce one of the co-founders, his name is jeffery betcher. where are you? get up here. and jeff is going to introduce to you as he escorts ms. annette young smith to the stage. this lady, ladies and gentlemen, is a lifetime achievement award

in 1969 anchor began its sixth location at the bottom of potrero hill. today we see our development exceeding production capacity. so we need a second brewery. and to stay true to the values we hold, we knew that second brewery would have to be in san francisco itself. we are still a small company. and knew that such an undertaking could be overwhelming for us. fortunately the support that we found from others was overwhelming too. everyone took on a can-do attitude. and i would like to extend my enormous gratitude to the ports and to the mayor's office for their help in getting us here today. and also to our friends the giants that value san francisco icons. these reflect the heart and soul of the city towards anchor. and for that i would like to thank all the people of san francisco for the huge support of their city's brewery. pier 48 will ensure our capacity and secure anchor's future. beyond the brewery we want san francisco to be a must-see traction to locals and visitors ali alike. adding to that we will have restaurants and museums. we are less w

generally included kayaking trips on the san francisco bay and the pictures you see are youth from our potrero hill program at the indian basin. so the equipment that's been very busy this school year. the mobile rec equipment through the school year will make about 50 visit as round san francisco and staff estimated nearly 1200 youth have climb up the rock wall so far this year. the second part of the grant will go to fund trail improvements in golden gate park. this is in the northeast corner of golden gate park, runs along fulton street from 6th avenue to down to stanyan street. this portion of the grant includes an in-kind donation of approximately $42,000 for signage and in-kind donation of $2,859.24 for design services. and cash grant of $50,000 for construction. this is a significant portion of the project's budget. and i just wanted to say that these sorts of gifts along with the volunteer efforts happening at oak woodlands and other trail projects around the city are extremely significant because they allow the department to stretch its public trails funding to improve a wider network of t

paul scott include the completion of several health care centers including sunset mental health, potrero hill and curry health centers. and maxine hall health clinic is currently under design and will be moving into construction very soon. we'll be starting work soon on barrier removal work at the san francisco generate hospital in the emergency room area, clinic and patient restrooms. and bibeding 89d at san francisco general hospital got a makeover at the parking lot. most important we're moving forward with the el elevator modernization project. it's going to be providing redundance amongst the three elevators in case one has to be taken out of service for repairs. the lethalon of honor underwent a makeover. golden gate park repaved manufacture their multi-use roads. and we finished the accessible passenger loading work at the school district. that was the subject of lopez lawsuit. we're go to be doing some phase 2 work for the cultural center and the mission cultural center for latino arts. that concludes my director's report. thank you for your attention. >> thank you, carla. moving on t

potrero hill and southeast health centers are health centers in those particular communities that are family health centers, so they provide health care to patients across the age span. . >> many of our clients are working poor. they pay their taxes. they may run into a rough patch now and then and what we're able to provide is a bridge towards getting them back on their feet. the center averages about 14,000 visits a year in the health clinic alone. one of the areas that we specialize in is family medicine, but the additional focus of that is is to provide care to women and children. women find out they're pregnant, we talk to them about the importance of getting good prenatal care which takes many visits. we initially will see them for their full physical to determine their base line health, and then enroll them in prenatal care which occurs over the next 9 months. group prenatal care is designed to give women the opportunity to bond during their pregnancy with other women that have similar due dates. our doctors here are family doctors. they are able to help these women deliver the

lou was a native san franciscan, raised in potrero hill.nd like was the case with my father, didn't learn english till he went to elementary school. i'm not sure which school it was but it was somewhere in san francisco. i'm not sure if it was the case for lou also, but my father got to do the first grade twice because the nunns wanted to make sure he was fluent in english before he advanced. i think it served him well through the rest of his life. in fact, he gave them a considerable sum when he passed way. he felt they were successful because of their insistence on his fluency in english. anyway more on mr. spadia. he advanced through high school. he was so fluent and so well liked that he became student body president in mission high school. and then right after he -- after the war he got out of the service and was probably the first employee of the san francisco 49ers when they were formed by the morabito brothers in 1946 as part of the all-american football conference. and his early jobs included things like being the equipment man, ma

so my name is lance wilson, i'm in district 10, i live in potrero hill. i was a rent control renter for the the first seven years i was in san francisco. i have been a t.i.c. owner now for five years. we adopted our 18-month-old baby daughter from san francisco, a year and a half ago, obviously, and we're raising her on the hill and we intend to stay there. we didn't displace anybody when we moved into the building when we became t.i.c. owners. we also have a renter in our building who we support, respect, and want to continue to support in the building. he is fully protected under this piece of legislation. we want to support that and contribute back to low income housing in san francisco. thank you. >> chair wiener: thank you. next speaker. >> my name is fran taylor. the definition of chutzpah is you kill your parents and then you throw yourself on the mercy of the court because you're an orphan. i'd like to modernize that definition. you support t.i.c.s, you push t.i.c.s, you shove t.i.c.s down our throat, you displace people right and left and 10 year
